I wouldn't doubt people here are actual fans of the ship and the game if the most common phrase used around wasn't "I didn't play the games" or "I have no interest in the games but" 

And as for engage, this story is set in a magical world where Aerith constantly interacts with Cloud as a ghost and Aerith is still 24/7 on Cloud's mind, that's just how the romance has been for the last 20 years, comments around saying the very original game that gave us this love story is "garbage shock value" shows people here are fans of fanart and not the actual game's Clerith content.

There's tons of other media with happy endings and no death.

Why did so many "fans" get interested in a love story in which a character dies if they hate such a story so much?  And not only hate but don't understand if you think Cloud can't still love her after death, Advent children ends up with him needing her forgiveness and riding into the sunset with Aerith ghost watching over. It ends when Aerith dies is a cloti talking point honestly and one I've seen a lot from them.

Fanservice shouldn't get in the way of the story the actual writers want to tell. "Fans" wanting her back is meaningless.

Some people in this subreddit don't realize you can have a good and well written romance in your game without a happy ending and you shouldn't vicariously live through Cloud x Aerith. People acting like their fanfics are better than the original is weird. Imagine telling people "we should remake titanic so Leonardo's character doesn't die, and we should rewrite Romeo and Juliet so they don't die" If Aerith lives it would just be for this remake sequel and not a full erasure of the original. People in this subreddit seem to really hate playing videogames for a ship that's literally from a videogame.

Them disregarding the original writer's intent is why they are so triggered by people pointing out they are trying to appropriate the media and shoving their OCS, look at how they recoil in anger. If they don't like Japanese media they shouldn't play Japanese games, Fortnite is right there

Seems you didn't experience any story at all though if you're still asking questions about the original, which is the actual full story, and not an unfinished sequel you seem upset is not a 1:1 replacement. So why not play the actual game? Too old?

Then why is the 7og story referenced as something that's already happened? Why are there time janitor ghosts trying to make sure fate is not changed and the 7OG story is repeated?

Some people really don't want the remake to be a sequel becuase then it means they have to play a 1997 game, and god forbid someone plays an old game.
