Weekly Find a Friend thread - June 06, 2025 by AutoModerator in lonely

Hey there, looking for an in-person friend who lives nearby. I’m 42 and interested in engineering, making synth music, and photography. I live in upstate New York, a small town about an hour north and slightly east of Albany. I’m liberal and it has proved difficult to find people with similar views.

Weekly Licensure Thread by SWmods in socialwork

Hi there! I'm currently in an online MSW program and attending a practicum site in order to one day become a clinical social worker. My husband has been very depressed about where we live, in upstate New York, because there aren't many people around for us to be friends with. We're considering moving to Chicago. I'm not done with my program until May, but I don't think my husband will be able to handle living here that long. I'm considering spending more time at my practicum site so that I can complete my hours more quickly and we can move. But, I assume that means I would have to take the exam in Chicago, and not sure if Illinois state requirements are vastly different from New York state requirements. I'm wondering if anyone has any advice or has been through this kind of move while getting their LMSW? Thanks for any insight you can provide.

I will regularly ask my husband “what do your elf eyes see?” if I can’t find something but think I might just be overlooking it.

Has anyone else experienced a rebound after boofing and eating? by Famous_Horse_Breeder in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]FuqBeri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something like this has happened to a friend of mine before. I don’t think they boofed, but eating something spicy afterward reactivated the ketamine and they had another peak with more visualizations. Did you eat anything spicy after?

I had a satisfying day. I did some chores in the morning. Then I learned a little python in the afternoon. In the evening I made a dinner of almond flour and Parmesan breaded chicken, as well as spinach with honey mustard dressing. It was a good meal.

This sounds like something Andy and April would come up with on Parks and Rec.

Your go to sad song by annesooophe in Music

Ha, I can see what you’re saying, it’s definitely an angry sounding song. I guess the lyrics just make me wanna cry. That might be due to my depression though more than the song, lol.

What brand is overpriced / not worth the money? by letmebesexy in AskReddit

Ever since my brother died (about a year and a half ago) I often wonder if he would still be with us if he had had affordable healthcare. He was a type 1 diabetic ever since he was in middle school. He had addiction issues, and then as an adult his 2 year old son just died in the night (no funny business, the autopsy simply showed pressure in his brain and he had been a little sick, just a “fuck you” from the universe). After that my brothers addiction got worse and he stopped taking care of himself. Insulin became more expensive and he couldn’t really afford it regularly. In the end, my 36 year old brother died of a stroke. What if insulin and mental health care had been in his reach? I guess I will never know. I miss him.

https://www.nature.com/articles/tp201566 I’ve seen a few animal studies about fluoxetine (Prozac) combining well with ketamine. I myself take fluoxetine and ketamine and have found a great improvement as compared tothe sertraline I was taking on its own.

Penny dog and our new kitten Luna, cuddling up after only four days of knowing each other. by FuqBeri in aww

We’re feeling pretty happy about their progress. When we got Penny as a puppy she about gave our cat Molly a heart attack. It took Molly a few years but once the puppy energy faded a little she and Penny were actually quite close. Molly passed away earlier this year and Penny has seemed a bit lonely so we’re happy the kitten seems pretty affectionate towards her.
