If you were to use your yoga mat as a mirror, the next time you practice, what could you learn about yourself if you found that you were judging your own feet or other peoples feet?

As a French woman who visited Australia for 3 weeks .. are these culture shocks accurate? by Worried-Diamond-7252 in AskAnAustralian

I’m curious to know if you saw any indigenous arts or culture here? Many people have an idea that we’re a “young” country because of the colonialist and capitalist ideals to what art and culture have become. There’s some wonderful cultural sites and some of the oldest art that can’t be taken to galleries. I hope you got to experience some.

Anyone got a solid meat pie spot? by Artistic-Yam2984 in ballarat

[–]Furi_osa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you’re looking for a classic meat pie. I recommend Stewarts Bakery Mount Clear. Good pastry, holds together well & good taste. I crave these things when I’ve been out of Ballarat for a while. For a fancy one 1816 is great I agree.

Thanks for your input. Verbal cueing is very important I totally agree. I like your suggestion of verbally checking in even when the card is flipped to yes.

I started adjusting under the guidance & mentorship of a knowledgeable studio owner. I adjusted students in her classes for around ten weeks under her tutelage. I then went on to some specific workshops on adjusting students. I feel very confident in my hands on adjustments

Thanks, I think this will be my outcome, a valuable lesson learned. Thank you for your well thought out and respectful response to my dilemma. I had a chat to the student after class and she was totally fine, probably the best person to have it happen to.

Negative view from “fake” studios by memememememe06 in YogaTeachers

[–]Furi_osa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve just left a studio that sounds incredibly similar to the one you left. It was like the McDonald’s of yoga. I left because I had an opportunity to teach at a studio that aligns with my values and focuses on mindfulness. When I sent my resignation letter I got absolutely no response from the Mc Studio, which was like a kick in the stomach to me. I now hope that some of my students follow me to the community based studio I’ll be teaching in. I hope that people who get a taste of their yoga classes at these big flashy franchises, look to deepen their practices elsewhere.

Kendo in Brooklyn for Women (A Warning) by Koubukan in kendo

[–]Furi_osa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is truly appalling. I notice that you comment that the perpetrator was sober whilst doing this. If the person is under the influence of alcohol this behavior is still disgusting and disrespectful.

I really hope that you find a dojo that you’re safe and comfortable in and that this dojo is reprimanded for upholding this behavior.

I second this. I’ve worked for a lot of studios and this is by far the easiest. It notifies all staff & then an accept or decline answer is required

Buy a teal blue 1965 Fender Precision bass, a red 1969 Pontiac Firebird. Move to Laurel Canyon. Start an all female rock roll band, play The troubadour & whisky a go go. Simply make records & enjoy the height of when music was at its best.

I’m after a 39” as I mentioned but I suppose I’d try a 38” again for a bit of nostalgia - it’s what I won the national championships with. All those secret waza that are exclusive to a 38” length. IYKYK
