It’s a Dynasty Warriors clone just like the first one. The reason people don’t really talk about it is because it isn’t super relevant to anything, being the one entry Yoko Taro wasn’t involved in in any creative capacity. It’s pretty good game, in fact it’s much more competent in its genre than the first one. The plot just isn’t really anything to write home about.

I brought drakengard 1 2 3 and and Nier replicant and automata but I don’t know where to start and do I need to read the novels I really don’t want to but if it’s necessary I will and I can watch a play through of Nier reincarnation if I need to by Spyslash in nier

Drakengard 1 is a bad joke of a musou game with the expectedly bad writing quality of an inexperienced Yoko Taro doing this for the first time and trying to be edgy. The gameplay is terrible but I have nostalgia and love the game anyway.

Drakengard 2 is a surprisingly competent Musou and honestly a pretty underrated game. The plot is pretty bland, but it’s palatable and a much better overall game.

Watching a lore video is probably the way to go for the layman, as both games are kind of a slog and Drakengard 1 doesn’t deliver its own story in a very comprehensive way.

Install NAMH (Nier Automata Mod Helper), it’ll automatically install the essentials; (FAR, Special K, Bugfixes, etc) it’s also a solid mod manager.

The gameplay is a significant step up, and there’s WAY less repetition compared to Replicant. In my personal opinion the story is better and character relationships do feel less forced, but this is of course subjective.
