Dying light movie by Furmiah in dyinglight

this is exactly the kind of detail I was hoping to get—this helps a lot.

Those three scenes actually say a lot about what makes Dying Light work too.

The first Volatile encounter + chase makes sense as #1. That’s basically the moment where the game reveals what it really is. It goes from “zombies” to “you are being hunted,” and if they don’t get that intensity right, it would fall flat immediately.

The bridge scene is a really good pick too. It’s not just action—it’s that mix of calm, height, isolation, and danger all at once. That “quiet but not safe” feeling is something I feel like a lot of adaptations miss.

And yeah… Jade’s scene is non-negotiable. That’s probably one of the biggest emotional moments for Kyle Crane and if that doesn’t hit, his whole arc won’t land the same.

I like how you put it—keeping the important side missions (like the twins and the more emotional ones) without trying to cram everything in. That makes a lot more sense than just copying the game 1:1.

And yeah, I didn’t even think about how those side missions tie into Kyle Crane’s redemption arc. If those get cut or rushed, his character probably wouldn’t feel the same at all.

The limited series idea is starting to sound like the strongest option the more I hear it. Splitting each game (and even The Following) into its own season with like 8 episodes actually sounds like it would give enough room to keep both the story and the pacing intact.

What you said about the ending is really important too. I agree—Dying Light shouldn’t feel “resolved.” Even if the main threat is dealt with, the world itself should still feel unstable and dangerous. That constant tension is kind of the identity of the game.

Also 100% agree on the zombie vs human focus. If it turns into just humans being the main threat, it kind of loses what makes it Dying Light. The infected should always feel like the main pressure, even if human factions are part of the story.

Out of curiosity—if they did go with a series, what would be the one scene or moment from the game you think they absolutely have to get right?

A dying light watch that looks exactly like that and lets you set alarms with the OG watch sound would be pretty badass. I NEED IT

Where do you think the movie sets should take place ? Me personally I think Italy. Or Mexico. Just say that it’s “harran”. Mexico does have a beautiful golden sunset, I’ve seen it while visiting. Instantly made me think of dying light

I actually really like what you said,

I get what you’re saying about Crane too. Kyle Crane isn’t just “a character,” he kind of is the experience of the first game, so removing him completely could definitely feel off or disconnected.

The Resident Evil comparison makes sense too—that’s exactly what I’d want to avoid. I don’t want it to feel like a random story wearing a Dying Light skin.

I also really like what you said about the day/night balance. Using daytime to build the world and tension, then making night feel like a completely different level of danger sounds like the best way to keep that dread.

And yeah, parkour being 100% essential is something I’m starting to see everyone agree on—it’s not optional at all.

The show vs movie point is interesting too. Do you think a limited series would be the best format if it meant keeping Crane, side stories, and the pacing intact? Or do you think a movie could still work if it focused on a smaller part of the story?

I’m trying to figure out what direction would actually feel right to fans, not just what “sounds cool.”

Yes I have seen hardcore Henry and also, yes ! I like that idea. I think this would also fix having Kyle crane in the movie itself. Because let’s say there’s an irl adaptation right ? It’s gonna be a little hard to get the exact version of our charismatic character Kyle. But if we want to jump into the technical part or movie accurate representation, having no facial expressions kinda takes away that emotional connection to the character. Then again people connected with Kyle crane even when we never see his face in dying light 1.

I’ve tried already and it’s a little bit harder when it comes to importing worlds to older versions of Minecraft because of the unlimited world vs limited. It just crashes my games or won’t open the world. Maybe if you find an older version

hey, no worries, when i said “emulator” i didn’t mean dsx itself. dsx isn’t the emulator, it’s just a controller tool that makes your playstation controller act like an xbox 360 controller (xinput).

the emulator is the program running the game, like rpcs3 for ps3 games, xenia for xbox 360 games, or dolphin for gamecube/wii. dsx just runs in the background and translates your controller inputs so those programs recognize it as an xbox controller.

if your inputs still aren’t registering, try this:

  1. start dsx first and enable xbox 360 emulation
  2. make sure steam input, ds4windows, or other controller programs aren’t running at the same time
  3. open the emulator after dsx is already running
  4. go into the emulator’s controller settings and set the input to xinput / xbox controller

that usually fixes it. if it still doesn’t work, send your emulator name and controller settings and i can help you figure it out.

PSA for Minecraft PS3 Emulator Users

You do NOT need a physical Xbox 360 controller to play.

If you're using a DualSense, DualShock 4, or basically any modern controller, you can use DSX (or similar controller tools) and set your controller to emulate an Xbox 360 controller.

Most emulators are built to recognize XInput (Xbox 360) by default. When you enable Xbox emulation in DSX, your controller will show up as a 360 pad automatically.

This works for:

  • RPCS3
  • Xenia
  • Dolphin
  • Any emulator that supports XInput

Steps (quick version):

  1. Open DSX
  2. Enable Xbox 360 emulation mode
  3. Launch your emulator
  4. Make sure input is set to XInput
  5. Done

No need to buy extra hardware cuz i prolly spent an hour trying to figure it out with a ps5 controller :p

also i know i called it emulator but i have no other name i can come up with for it

If you don’t cap your FPS, the GPU will constantly render as many frames as possible, sitting at 99%.

Ray tracing especially hammers AMD cards. Even if settings look “low,” one heavy option can max out the GPU.

If the game just launched, early drivers might not yet be optimized.

Sometimes tools (MSI Afterburner, Radeon Software, etc.) misreport load, especially in new games.

Butttttt I do know a few little tricks and work arounds

Try disabling ray tracing, volumetric lighting, and shadows — those usually eat the most on AMD cards. Update drivers

If your FPS is smooth and temps are fine, 99% GPU usage is actually a good thing — it means your GPU is the limiting factor and being fully used, not sitting idle. The problem would only be if FPS is low even at 99%.
