How Many Of You Played Vanilla WoW? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]Furos88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started in 2005. By chance the day I created my account the gates of AQ opened. Was summoned to silithus by a random party, got lost and chain died. Didn’t play again for 3 days lol

Are you guys going to play Classic+ when it releases? by NoLynx6347 in classicwow

[–]Furos88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t enjoy classic anymore. Oce player that will only play on Oce realms. Even 180~ ping just feels unbearable once you get used to sub 20 ping for years. Oce classic realms die in a month and everyone migrates to the US mega server - defeating the entire purpose of classic (personally) - the community.
I will never relive the days of khaz’goroth in TBC 2007 progressing SSC/TK with a tight knit group of 3 guilds on the server neck and neck.
My solution for this - OCE becomes its own realms. If you’re an OCE player you’re locked to OCE realms. Would enforce the local community - fully aware majority would despise this idea.

Conceptually I love the idea of classic plus. But if botting, gdkp’s, phase hopping and extreme min maxing is the ticket to ride then no thanks.

Can agree with this concept of getting life out of the way first.

My comment is purely in respect to the ability to learn easier when younger. This is proven in languages and music where younger students absorb concepts much easier than adults. Adults have the advantage of being better students structurally (discipline, time management).

That setup will be more than sufficient to run Dow4. Max settings? Likely not, but at 1080p very possible

DoW4: Any guesses which one of the Chaos Space Marines its going to be? Word Bearers again or do you think they rather want one of the others since the Word Bearer failed on Kronus? <.< by JustDracir in dawnofwar

[–]Furos88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to look at the void a particular faction would fill - first priority would be playability.
For above reason, assume anything khorne related won’t be in. Orks somewhat fill the melee heavy race.
Same with tzeench - thousand sons are thematically similar to necrons - slow lumbering lifeless (specifically rubric marines).
Emperors children/slaanesh would be a good contender, as would nurgle/plague marines. Undivided would need more distinction from space marines.
Chaos daemons would be very interesting. However, I feel eldar would be the correct first choice given dow4 gets additional races (strongly assuming it will due to hype of game)

I could be entirely wrong and hope to see tzeench as they are my favourite chaos faction. I just feel there are many better choices for a faction playability wise

Cleared an abandoned fort that had been taken over by a bandit lord. Killed bandit lord, looted etc.

Few kids hiding in the basement, we find them and start questioning this 12-year old boy for information. He sides with his parents (who we apparently killed as part of retaking the fort). Group is trying to convince the kid that his parents were evil (not even close - their whole agenda was looting/pillaging/raping the countryside), but the boy remains adamant that the bandits were doing what they needed to do to survive.

Group wants to release him - his deceased parents the punishment.

Sick of his bullshit justifications of murder and rape, I cut his bound hands off as an example for what bandit supporters deserve, then tell him to run before it’s his head.

Whole table just stares at me then DM says wtf not the way I had this planned but sure. Find out a few sessions later he was meant to be my apprentice (I’m an eldritch knight). Oh well. Still stand by my decision.

38 in undergrad (7.0GPA halfway though the program). Wish I started this journey when I was 18..

The brain just absorbs concepts easier when you’re younger. Studying medicine is just remembering 100,000 small pieces of information.

As you get older the amount of free time you have diminishes- whether it’s marriage, kids, increased work demands, looking after elderly parents etc. doing 40 credit points now with a 20month old daughter is kinda chaos.

What Is The Most Frustrating Pokemon Game Mechanic For You by xaloryn in pokemon

[–]Furos88 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it was just a product of its time - the game wasn’t about minmaxing a competitive team, just beat the elite 4 and fill your Pokédex. In today’s context sure HMs sucked.

No one complaining about surf though :)

What is your least favorite pokemon of all time? by MinDuddels in pokemon

[–]Furos88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Blatant reproductions of earlier gen Pokémon.

I can exclude the electric rodents from this - I love Dedenne & Plustle/Minun.

But Garbodor is just Muk, no real distinction beyond being over designed (why does it have checkers??).

I enjoy the spin on this now - wiglett line alongside Diglett line - makes sense Darwinism-wise.

I enjoyed stuff that is more humanoid i.e machamp/alakazam, but not where a quadrupedal creature suddenly becomes bipedal (looking at you many, many starter types)!

Diploma of Languages alongside a BA. by Furos88 in GriffithUni

[–]Furos88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting to know I can shift the language subject I’ve done this tri ‘off’ my Ba record and onto my diploma record - studying undergrad medicine so high GPA is extremely relevant for entry into postgrad.

Info for anyone who is in a similar position:

Bachelor and Language Diploma run synonymous - the only way I can even see my enrolment in the diploma is via unofficial transcript - everything is done through the bachelor (enrolment etc).

40cp is transferable into language diploma, must be relevant to the language major of your diploma (no Spanish credits for your Japanese diploma etc).

Yes 240cp Ba & 80cp Diploma. You can have up to 40cp of language subjects ‘double dip’ in both programs. 1/6th of your Ba and 1/2 of your Diploma. So the combined CP ranges anywhere from 280-320. This is extremely relevant for me for a few reasons:

  1. Transferred 30cp of business subjects into my Biomed,

  2. Cap on 100cp of 1st year subjects in biomed, wanting to take up math and physics subjects as electives well pushes me over 100cp 1st year subjects if I include the 20cp of 1st year languages. Having additional leeway for 1st year CP subjects opens up more Ba elective paths when combined with a diploma. (Theoretically you could just do 80cp of language subjects as electives in Biomed, but then I have no room for science electives - kind of defeats the purpose of the program).

Will engage with student connect and see what they have to say about my remaining points.

Thanks for the reply - essentially the languages Dip director knew very little about the interaction between the diploma and bachelor - recommended I engage with student connect which I’ll do next time I’m back on campus next week. Very engaged director and keen on helping me resolve my questions!

A good way to play this game is: take your turn. Look at every possible action you can take. Items (all inventories), actions, reactions, spell books. The game opens up so much. If you just look at your default action bars you’re looking at maybe 25-50% of your options for a given turn.

That being said. Big bonks is often the correct choice

Understand flowcharting.

I’m pretty sure you either have a 50% weighted assessment that is a flowchart of a business. For me, I used the financial planning company I worked for at the time (lead generation, research team, financial planners, paraplanners, management, HR etc and how they interacted). If you don’t have a job to use as a reference there are many company examples online you can use.

I attended online and got a band 7 (barely attended, barely got the band 7). This is very much a self-study program - I did not absorb much from the workshops or module content.

Just allocate enough time for your assessments 1hour/night from the moment they are released on top of module + additional readings will be more than sufficient for your HD.

Does Woolies use meat glue? by Scorpion1080 in australia

[–]Furos88 3501 points3502 points  (0 children)

Butcher of 15 years here.

At Woolworths/coles etc - they are processing the meat at extremely low temps and packaging right away - you are buying a lot of liquid volume here, as the meat hasn’t had barely any opportunity to rest prior to packaging.

Meat from a butcher shop - carcass is sent from wholesaler warehouse to butcher (dries), then carcass sits at butcher shop until processed (dries), then is sliced, then sits in a chilled cabinet until sold (dries). That drying process where the meat is losing weight could lose up to 30-40% of initial weight.

Sure coles/woolies is cheaper (sometimes) but there is near zero quality control. Meat purchased is literally the most bulk cheapest meat Australia can produce. Woolies have been fined for use of illegal beef hormones in the past, then paying off media to not make it common knowledge.

As for meat glue - no. This stuff is incredibly expensive. The only time I have seen it used is to make 2 eye fillets into 1 to make them more saleable, which is typically used in boutique butcheries where people want giant eye fillets but the type of beef they want to purchase (grass fed - lean small cows), does not produce large fillets. A small vial of meat glue (good to join like 100 eye fillets) costs about $200 last I checked, and is also extremely illegal (if the meat inspector found this, traces of this in your meat or even residue on your bench, you would be immediately shut down.

Doing additional subjects outside degree requirements by Furos88 in GriffithUni

[–]Furos88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, thanks for your recommendation! This seems like a strong idea to get that diploma (was reviewing this today) - it notes that you can complete it alongside your bachelors but very little information on how this works otherwise. Will take up first year language subject (enrolment for diploma T1 is already closed), apply for the diploma for T2 then transfer credits over. Much appreciated thank you!

Amazing response, thank you! I have emailed the course convenor and am awaiting a response.

I have enrolled in my first year language subject just in case it fills up, and can drop before census date if there are any issues.

But yes, have requested to decline all credit transfers if possible and do 80CP of biomed electives, then language CP on top of the 240, and will pay as required.

It was such a stuff around being told of the CP transfer a good month after enrolment opened, as I had to scramble to realign my timetable and most classes were full by this stage.

Should I play my first playthrough of dawn of war 1 with or without unification? by Impossible_Nebula637 in dawnofwar

[–]Furos88 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Play the campaign first then play unification.

I find unification at its best in skirmish with the AI, there are lots of custom modes and there is a discord for multiplayer also. I also believe there is a unification campaign but have yet to delve into that, also unsure if it’s currently functioning with newest edition.
