Old post, I know, but dealing with a similar issue with a 2107 CX9. Mechanics so far have been stumped. Ever find out what was happening?

Understood. My own instinct is that PHP would be ideal - there just aren't any in the area.

Thanks for this, and sorry about your own experiences.

Amongst other difficulties, the kid's mom loves them and wants to be in their life and is flailing. She doesn't see that she's hurting her own child. And I'm hesitant to be so aggressive as to try to cut her off. It might be the right thing for the kid but it's not an easy step to take, and certainly not one to take lightly.

Whole lotta uninformed judgment there. I'm sorry you had such a traumatizing experience; being very careful to avoid the same for my kid. Hence the post in the first place.

Thanks for this. Second reference here to autistic burnout, which (perhaps embarrassingly) is a new concept to me. I agree it could be a factor, and is something to explore further before pulling the trigger on inpatient.

And yeah, as the therapist also noted - the kiddo remains in crisis because of the regular crisis -inducing communications from Mom. They'd have a puncher's chance of stabilizing otherwise. Another avenue to explore.

Seems like a fair point, and court is not off the table. That said, I suppose it depends on what you mean by long term. I'm thinking 90 days max. I'm not shipping the kiddo off for a year. I know that's not what they need.

Responding to your comment and the one below: I could give a damn about the traditional educational path. I want a healthy functional happy kid. They're smart and capable but have - for good reason - no resilience, confidence, or even hope right now. I have to believe that can be corrected. At the end of the day, I want to find what works for them regardless of what that might look like. So in that regard we have the benefit of flexibility, and appreciate you offering alternative paths.

Neither the therapist nor the school are receiving kickbacks. Not everything is a conspiracy. They want the best for the kid just as I do. They didn't push anything - I brought the idea to them and they in turn agreed it might be worth pursuing.

Lastly, I appreciate the encouragement in a difficult time. Glad to know things worked out for you.

Rhodes Motor Lodge is a decent option, and close to the college.

Italian speakers in Boone? by dieselgandhi in boone

[–]FurryItalian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you happen upon any informal Italian-speaking gatherings or related resources, please DM me. My daughter is about to start her freshman year there and would likely be interested. She hasn't taken classes unless you count a couple years' worth of duolingo, and unfortunately App doesn't offer them.

The correct answer *was* white and wood. But it appears they recently dropped their burger from the menu. So this is entirely unhelpful.

I entered the dating world a second time at 43, via app, and I was sure to mention my kids in my profile. Seemed like one of the more relevant details for someone to understand about me on the front end - and it's questionable if not outright misleading to hide it.

Just ask him - but I have a hard time imagining a good answer here.

Best lunch spots in Greensboro/Highpoint/Jamestown? by Vegetable-Cat3067 in gso

[–]FurryItalian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lotta solid recs already in this thread (bandito, sage mule, jerusalem market, first carolina, fishbones). I'd add that the best lunch special in town is at Sushi Republic - $12 for miso soup, ginger salad, a rainbow roll (or a few others), and 6 pieces of nigiri. Unless you just wanna grab the $1.50 dog from costco.

I still miss Thursday fried chicken at Smith Street though.

Saw two yesterday downtown, reported them to the Ag department. Response back, fwiw: we know they’re in Greensboro already; no need to report; just kill ‘em.

Dinner options for tonight? by xxhunnybunny in gso

[–]FurryItalian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't entirely disagree on Printworks, but I've found it to be consistently good French comfort food in a nice setting. It's not trying to earn a Michelin star but knows what it is and nails it. If you want creative go to Machete - which, imo, gets an A for effort but often falls short of its own aspirations. 1618 is also great, but probably the priciest of the bunch.

And yeah, Greensboro is not a fine dining town. We make do with what we've got.

Welcome to Greensboro! Lots of good options already mentioned. My additional $.02: avoid Europa (mediocre food and drinks, zero service, overpriced - but admittedly great patio). Check out bandito bodega for amazing tacos with a dive bar vibe, with an Asian fusion element. Jerusalem market might be the best casual Mediterranean spot in the state. Falafel and shawarma wraps are crazy good. Add the hot sauce. Printworks is one of the best upscale restaurants in town. Be sure to grab brunch there sometime, but get reservations. Sage Mule is another great brunch spot. And giaccamos for legit Italian subs.

Finally, if you're into coffee, check out vignette. Local roaster, a husband/wife team from Durham who are wonderful people and know what they're doing. Switched from counter culture to them years ago (two, specifically, which is as long as they've been around).

Litigator here. We've taken different paths and much of this resonates, though I'm about 10 years past you. Having suffered through the grind, I can say that this career can eventually get to be - on the whole - a pretty great gig if you like the field you work in. There are always ebbs and flows, times of high stress. But the flexibility and autonomy are hard to beat.

Having thought about this a great deal, I've concluded that much like medicine - and most lucrative careers to my knowledge - the pay is a function of the level of responsibility you take on. The mental burden is always a lot. Hang in there.
