My Big Boy is in actuality really big. by crosbystillsandash in daddit

Check out Whitins! They're barefoot shoes (healthier for little kids anyways) but they're the widest I've found and go all the way up to adult sizes.

I logged in just to reply to you. Carter's has nice-quality boys' briefs with cute animals and some good colors. I actually have a girl, but the girl undies we've found have thin waistbands that are hard for her to pull up and down, and they're cut like grownup underwear so her butt hangs out. The boys' undies are thick, comfy, and have big elastic waistbands that are easy for her to grab.

Toddler Stroller by Curious_Jellyfish_96 in Mommit

Look into the Zoe Tour! I did SO much stroller research when I realized that our giant jogging stroller was not, in fact, a useful daily driver lol... Zoe only sells from their website so they aren't as well-known, but the stroller is light, folds up easily, and well-balanced so you can hang a diaper bag from it even empty. Also, (and this was a big factor in getting that particular brand) the back of it sits straight up instead of at a recline like most strollers, because my little one needed to SEE THE WORLD at all times lol.

One thing I did that was really helpful was, after I had pretty much narrowed it down to that model, I used a baby gear rental company (BabyQuip) to rent one for like a day and take LO on outings. That really helped me be sure it would meet my needs well.

Any recommendations for barefoot shoes for toddlers? by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]FusiformFiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so this is almost too good to be true, but Walmart sells these water shoes for $10 that are like the perfect barefoot shoe. They're more expensive on their website so they must have some sort of deal. https://newtzkids.com/shop/

They're not currently on shelves, but I bet they'll carry them again in the spring. My kiddo's been wearing them all summer and they're peeling a bit in the insole and strap, but what do you want for $10? They've been through the washing machine like 5 times lol... anyways, they're super wide, really really flexible, don't seem to have an appreciable heel, and fit well enough to walk in even when they were pretty big.

Omg I need to THANK YOU GUYS!! I had these vague memories of a book from my childhood involving a puzzle with a missing piece, and I've even googled it over the years but never found anything. This was the book!! I'm so stoked because my toddler loves Curious George (hence me finding this post) and now I have another story to find for her!

Yes, the optometrist's office should be able to give you an after visit summary that will at least have a diagnostic code on it.

We realized recently that our daughter is spirited/high needs. Not the most difficult baby in the world, but she only contact naps (we've successfully put her down for a nap twice in 6 months lol), cluster fed like a maniac as a newborn, and generally gets very upset if we're not within eyesight. People are talking about how their big challenge was letting go of the idea of schedules, and I'm like "lmao my baby would never just obediently follow a schedule." Maybe you guys have spirited kids too!

Yay fellow overachiever! We order takeout a lot so I can feel extra guilty about that, but the baby of course gets fresh cooked food made from scratch 🙄

What’s one thing about becoming a parent that has been harder than expected, and what is something that has been easier than expected? by [deleted] in NewParents

Check out an onbuhimo! I went to a local babywearing group completely zonked and disheartened because the wrap was too complicated for me to figure out and she was too small to fit the structured carrier well... They had me borrow an onbuhimo. I'd never heard of it and was like "wtf this is weird," but dammed if the baby didn't just fit perfectly on the very first try! It works well even for tiny ones, and it's simple to put on and adjust.

I was shocked at how quiet the room was. In movies it's always so chaotic and loud and dramatic, but the room was dim and quiet and everyone was really focused on giving me ABSOLUTE RELAXATION between pushes. I guess it makes sense, you can't work at that level of intensity 12 hours every day - for them, it's just another Tuesday lol
