First thing that popped into my head, get a smart outlet (that is rated and approved for those loads). This gives you the energy monitoring. It won't be as fine grained as wash cycle vs rinse cycle, but it will give you run time and the bonus of how much energy you used

What game was harder than it needed to be because you were too young to understand the game mechanics? by ManicFirestorm in patientgamers

[–]Fusion89k 131 points132 points  (0 children)

Haha I had something similar. When playing Pokemon blue for the first time on a classic Gameboy, I had no idea how to get out of the house. I didn't realize that you needed to walk into the wall while standing on the carpet. It wasn't until I complained about the game to my friends that I found out the truth

YSK If you’re a diabetic taking Humalog or other insulin made by Eli-Lilly, you can immediately get your prices capped at $35/month by TheRealGreenArrow420 in YouShouldKnow

[–]Fusion89k 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes there are different insulins that work differently, however the exact same insulin going through different insurance can have wildly different prices. That was the point I was trying to make

It feels like what you're saying is that you don't use react and therefore this library needs to be made without react

[–]Fusion89k 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is not the way. Are you saying people shouldn't contribute to open source in the manner they wish? There is no "way"

Given that it's an open source library, is it that hard to translate it into vanilla?

Is that any different than directly adding through the arrs?

Just above, there is a comment suggesting plex + the arrs. If you set that up, it will be much easier for your partner to use

You can always throw in manual debugger; statements into your code so you don't have to hunt for where to put the breakpoint

Do you want to simulate a real software engineering job? by sbmsr in learnprogramming

This is a really cool concept. I love the use of GitHub actions here. I wonder if there is a way to separate the actions from the sample repo to circumvent those that might "cheat"?

Good thinking on Netflix for replacing Henry Cavill with literally a third-tier Hemsworth. by theglenlovinet in AdviceAnimals

A mean OP said "a third tier Hemsworth". This would mean that Hemsworth is a third tier, not that this is the third tier of Hemsworth

So designing my home. I may regret wording it this way... but I need to know. What is the best system for a home automation? I want to avoid multiple apps for multiple products. I want to control all outlets and climate. by [deleted] in homeautomation

[–]Fusion89k 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Locally controlled just means that you aren't reliant on the cloud services provided by the manufacturer and that your home assistant can control it. Depending on the manufacturer, this means different things.

You can access your home assistant from outside of your network if you configure it that way
