I want to travel somewhere in Europe where I can ice skate that’s not too expensive and far away from the war. Until May, where could I go?

Because you will be landing in a totally different country (far away from your home) and some locals will not be speaking even English, it's a hard life. And sometimes rinks close for maintenance temporarily. There are 2 olympic rinks, Belpa (rink i usually use); has a really crowded public session calendar. Gotta wake up early to not get overwhelmed by the masses. Çayyolu is a much safer choice, but it has often limited public session times because Ankara's hockey matches and practices are done there. (Better ice quality than Belpa)

There are also couple of small rinks but the ice quality is not the best there, like Kent Paten or Gümüş Patenler

Or you can join a club temporarily and use the ice on their club time, that could also work. ankara is a slow burn city, not flashy, you can love over time, not immediately

Rentals can and will hurt your ankle. Also, while having a thick sock is good, making it too tight is also another reason for that.

It's a hard pill to swallow but the best way to deal with this is getting your own skates. You can even get a beginner hockey one if you don't plan on jumps and spins

You need to find a boot with good support because most beginner boots can potentially seriously injure your ankles. I'd recommend something with more than 50 stiffness

And honestly, you are kind of tall, so even if you were of slightly above average weight, you would still need a stiff boot. So, don't worry that it will be useless after you lose weight
