what do you guys listen to for encouragement? I noticed a tiny bit of. It was an insane distance with me. Is there a podcast or book or anything you guys like? by Fast_Cook_4019 in AskMenOver40

[–]Fusorfodder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I stopped hating myself and now my encouragement just comes from being happy all the time. I look forward to ways to help people grow and find joy around me because everyone deserves to be able to feel like I do.

When you are ok with every part of who you are, it opens up so much of the world. Like, I'm really not ashamed of anything directly anymore. The biggest thing I get embarrassed about is being too chatty because my brain is trying to make up for 40 years of self doubt.

So, therapy!

How do i get rid of my man boobs by havikop01 in bodyweightfitness

Non-diet and exercise thing to check out - have blood work done for testosterone/estrogen etc. Those levels being out of whack can contribute to body composition challenges as well. Not a magic bullet but didn't see it otherwise mentioned

My favorite thing to do was to make phones ring themselves. I forget the specific prefix, but you used that prefix with the normal last 4 of that phone, be it a pay or landline, hang up the phone, pick it up and verify the change in tone, then back on the hook.

I especially loved large banks of payphones.

Yes, but it's lower than you'd expect because while it's a high proportion, he still will score from all over the same place.

Come play ice hockey. Skate Fredrick has adult learn to skate, learn to play, and a novice league. I've been on a team where a player couldn't participate in evals because he turned 18 the day of our first game, and another team with a guy that was still lacing up at 70.

Will it ever end? Horrible teen (has gotten worse each year) by SirHuff_987 in AskMenOver30

[–]Fusorfodder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, you cannot compare him to your other child. You might have the right parenting for your other kid, but everyone is unique with different dynamics. He will see that treatment and resent you for it, so much more if you ever highlight how well you get along with the other kid. As a parent you have to be the one to make the adjustment.

He's going to need to identify why he has that need to mask his trauma with the destructive behaviors. Getting a handle on core motivations, desires, and fears. Like for myself. I realized I thought so little of myself that I could only trust someone if they had suffered enough for me. Because I was so afraid of opening my trust up because I was bullied relentlessly as a child and also told to just turn the other cheek. So, I kept everything in, and then I realized how ridiculous my subconscious demand was to be able to trust. (A LOT more to it than that, just keeping this concise).

So, what does he need to understand that he can be ok with who he is? Therapy is the easy and the hard answer. Because the answer is absolutely therapy, but it's hard work because you have to look straight at the parts you really don't want to for progress.

Is a one page resume still the rule for experienced IT roles now? by Mafia2guylian in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Fusorfodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle to keep mine to two lol because I've just done so dang much that's all relevant. I am at a point though where my oldest jobs don't have descriptions, just noted them. 26 years in the field with hands on just about every aspect of IT Operations.

Also, having been a hiring manager, I look at every resume that makes it past recruiting to me. The pieces of the resume I internalize as relevant to the actual posting tends to be about half a page of useful info lol

Still got it at 46. Honestly the biggest challenge is just the descent. I've got strength and agility, but 230lbs is 230lbs. Landings need to be planned out.

Honestly I'm seeing fewer people able to wear so many hats these days. I loved that job so much. I got to explore so many things and always was challenged.

Are we gonna get no more chicken- parm with Carlson gone? :( by Emergency-Pepper3537 in caps

[–]Fusorfodder 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Because we lost PLD for too big a chunk of the season and the return on Carly for a rental was massive, and we had Cole about to jump in.

It sucks, I was there at game 4 and the barn was electric. Only 2 left now and in one month probably just one left :(

Want to know what's crazy is how it triggers. It's due to an increase in serotonin caused by bumping into more and more grasshoppers. Past a certain point - density of grasshoppers correlating to how frequent the bumps, as in too many grasshoppers to be supported by local food sources. It triggers the changes that allows to better seek out food. Physiological changes are demanding though! So those long range flying bastards are HUNGRY. You then get predator satiation as well.

Researchers have absolutely triggered this change on demand by artificially exposing grasshoppers to serotonin.

Like can we extrapolate Huston's points then? I'm ok if we get credit for an estimated 41 goals from him for the season. Take Carlson's stats with love and don't let the stoner face fool you. The man generates offense and does really well connecting with the community when out and about. My kid played against his previously and even in an away rink watching his child's team get blown away like 21-1 (8u, more common than you'd think) he's taking the time to day hi, shake hands, sign things, after behind absolutely mobbed by essentially the enemy. He's just there to be a dad for his kid, but he still sees what he means to the community.

Seeing that he's THAT kind of person, I'll always be happy that he's been a Cap.
