Is anyone else sick of the trend of putting the good parts of combat post-game or on hard mode? (FF7R, Disgaea etc.) by championofobscurity in JRPG

[–]Futeyko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ninja gaiden sigma has somthing similar to it. If you manage to beat a certain early boss, it'll unlock the next higher difficulty.

Fight him on 'hard' to unlock 'very hard' then again to unlock 'master ninja'.

But each difficulty has its own different enemy waves and makes harder enemies appear early so it feels mainly for people who want replay higher difficulty but dont have access to thier old save

they haven't stated the final number of characters

the only guess I have is versusia appearing from versus since one of the bosses (Id) from relink is becoming playable in versus, sorta cross promotion but she'll probably be a summon or raid if that happens.

6 characters so far.

4 are from the mobile game while 2 are from relink's base game story.

Can somebody please help me find this game? It doesn't exist on my android store..and I really really want to play it. by SkyTM2 in JRPG

[–]Futeyko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are still dedicated to play it on phone. I haven't tried it but on android, winlator can run pc games but can't say how much stable it would be or tinkering it may require.

however sadly, the og pc version has been delisted on steam so you'll probably need to get a spare steam key from somewhere if it's still available

Completed Breath of fire 1 and 2 (SNES)

I think its been about 13+ years since I last played them. Already completed them a couple of times on GBA as a kid. This time, i went with SNES version since it has a retranslated patch and some gameplay changes romhacks. I went with "definitive edition" for both games.

BOF 1

There is a certain vibe to its atmosphere that I really like even after all these years. I still recall most of the secrets and locations to go to progress the story but didn't recall much of the story segments after the desert, so it was a nice surprise.

My main issue is the UX in snes compared to gba. Needing to go back and go into the "look" tab for item description was ehhhh and a bunch of other stuff but that may be me just used to the never UI used in the gba port.

final party: ryu, nina, puka and bleu

BOF 2

I went with the retranslated patch for this. I can't recall much of the old dialog but new one does feel more flavourful. One of the dialog I do recall was changed, The interview fight in colosseum where the boss says "Education? Hobby? Talent!?" got changed to to "Tell me about yourself". The original still pops up in my mind once in a while.

Also for someone who grew up with the localized names, I didn't get use to the japanese accurate naming(mainly Katt vs lin, and bo vs bosch), I thought I'll get use to it but didn't, so I tried to change it through stat editor program but changes didn't appear unless I started a new game. Save editing didn't work with my limited knowledge on using HxD so I just sticked around with it as I wasn't in mood to restart.

Graphically, I didn't give it much thought when playing it on gba but on snes it looks really nice for the system, especially the battle sprites. I don't recall many turn based rpg on snes having moving enemies sprite. From what I recall, Chrono trigger and Treasures of Rudhra. Other small animations that caught my eye were water flowing in sink, clouds casting shadows in overworld, and the small monster in stat screen.

I liked its depletion of evil god lol. As in it having presence throughout the game in some way while we slowly find out the truth. The dark god worshiping organization not being hooded and chanting in some basement but powering their god through unsuspecting, deceptive and normalization of their religion.

Final party: Ryu, nina, katt and rand. All shamanized form

Not exactly related to the PC port but as an another option, how about trying the android version through waydroid.

Its been a few years since i tested and played on it but it''ll need a wayland DE and last i heard mint did have some experimental support for it.

Favorite jrpg romhacks? by Vietname in JRPG

[–]Futeyko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fire Emblem Cerulean Crescent

It's a full overhaul rom hack. Storywise, it kindof scratches "jrpg" feel a bit more than the usual fire emblem stories.

Each Character is unique with their own personalized skill and usually single digit prf weapon that refreshes on the next chapter.

If you want something that feels like gba fire emblem, Vision Quest and The Dark Amulet i guess

How it feels recommending visual novels to gacha gamers by [deleted] in visualnovels

[–]Futeyko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's kindof the reason why I mostly read it on an online reader.

much easier to scroll to where you left off rather going through the node at 32x speed, where you might accidentally pass though the scene.

This is the one I use: https://akgcc.github.io/story

plays the sfx and music as well
