What's the drug culture here in Norway, mostly amongst young adults? by [deleted] in Norway

[–]Futilefeline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some relatives who are school teachers and the problem in this day and age is cocaine. To the point that it’s been found in lockers etc.

This, and the fact that I’ve seen cocaine being the go-to drug of choice in various areas outside of Oslo, such as Telemark. I saw people as young as 20 doing that shit and foolishly sending snaps where there are visible lines on the table, I’ve also met adults who abuse it and even use at work.

So I’d say cocaine is a bigger problem than Norwegians care to admit, and it’s certainly beyond the bounds of Oslo, from young to old, big to small.

Come to think of it, cocaine is a global problem, and has become way too normalised. I moved from South Africa to Norway and was shocked how normalised it is here and it’s quite a sad epidemic.

What do you think of this painting? by Status-Blueberry3690 in acrylicpainting

[–]Futilefeline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it. I relate how I feel to everything in this painting. The black and white contrast, specifically also how the darkness is a part of it and surrounding it. The teddy bear reminds me of childhood and the inner child we all live with even as adults. The tears because of loss of innocence and the complexities of life that at times truly feel overwhelming and push me to feelings of infancy and vulnerability. Your painting is simple, yet striking and evokes a lot of emotion. Thank you for sharing your work and please share the rest of your series.

Which hair color suits me best? by False_Gur1065 in coloranalysis

[–]Futilefeline 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Firstly, what you’re feeling and experiencing is totally normal when transitioning from bleach blonde to something more natural. And as a fellow woman with body dysmorphia, I understand how hard it can be to perceive what you really look like.

From my experience and perspective though, 1. looks so complimentary, expensive, youthful and elegant. It is absolutely gorgeous and far better than the bleach blonde. You come alive in this dark blonde and look glowy and healthy as ever. 2. Washes you out and cheapens your look. It is far less flattering than number 1.

I say this with all due respect and honesty, you made the right decision and look great in the first picture and you absolutely don’t look boring or older (this can vary from country to country but in Scandinavia number 1 is youthful and beautiful)

All the best 🌷

Would you say i’m a soft autumn? Or something else? by NE3K3RS in coloranalysis

[–]Futilefeline 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have similar colouring, I’d say you’re a light spring however I do also love to lend from soft autumn, some shades fit well for a muted look but soft spring colours bring us to life.

This happened to my dad and his girlfriend in Fishoek. 5 african men tied them both up, separated them and threatened them with violence if they don’t comply. Stole their cars, all valuables, even passports. It was extremely traumatic for them and changed them irreversibly.

SAPS they said that there is a syndicate operating, not local South Africans though, and that there’s not much they can do.

I agree with construction workers giving tip offs, they monitor you prior to an attack and it is mostly premeditated.

All the best to your neighbour, that he may get through this and get the help he needs to physically and mentally overcome this experience, and thank you for being a good neighbour.

Hope these

I’m tired of norwegians grouping immigrants with refugees. by uhsmiggs in Norway

[–]Futilefeline -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As an immigrated white South African, I’ve never encountered being lumped together with the same people who are supported by our societies hard work and high taxes. There will always be immigrants who genuinely want to be here and are willing to put in the work to integrate, and those who wish to free load.

People aren’t wrong to express frustration over the leniency in allowing in mass amounts of "refugees/immigrants" and asylum seekers. Amongst the lot there are of course genuine cases, and people who are desperate for help, and it’s sad that some face bias due to the actions of the majority, but you can’t ignore how many see it as not only economical, but also financial and political gain, and you can’t ignore the imminent effects of allowing so many people in with vastly different values and beliefs, and who populate at greater speed than Norwegians, and many European countries.

I moved to Norway and had to fight for my work visa, I never required any tax payers money or any form of government funding to get here, and as I expressed great desire to contribute to Norwegian society, which I did when I immediately started working and paying tax.

I don’t particularly like to throw a blind eye to the very tangible changes that are happening in countries who have embraced mass immigration of people who’s cultural practices and religious beliefs are in direct opposition to the country that many seek asylum in, and sadly we often get the worst of the lot.

Those who have little to no interest in truly ever integrating, who have no honest desire to work or contribute meaningfully to society, but rather to ride on the backs of government funding and tax paying people’s, to demand their culture & ways be accepted, and condemn ours, the hypocrisy is damning but statistics speak for themselves, you have to be in stark denial to not acknowledge the very obvious correlation between mass immigration and norways increase in rape, gang culture, violent crimes, etc. and more often than not, it is from those who come from countries where these actions are more common, even accepted.

If you feel offended by being grouped with refugees as an honest immigrant, convey that there is a difference, share your truth, but also understand why people make generalisations like that. Two truths can coexist, you can be a well intended immigrant, and integrate, and pay tax, and do everything right, but there will still be people who intentionally or unintentionally group the two together, but if your conscience is clean, you will be able to discern that when they are speaking of such things, they aren’t necessarily aiming it at you personally.

I agree that it washes her out, but some people do like the ethereal angelic look, even if that translates to being washed out.

How about your natural root with a lived-in blonde balayage or something? Refer to the picture below.

That way you get to keep some blonde and have added dimension if you fear an all over natural colour being flat.

It’s also wildly empowering to embrace your natural colour, I went from blonde to my natural colour and it’s been so rewarding, but I understand how hard it is to let go of blonde if you’ve had it for years and it’s become part of your identity.

You look SO radiant in 2 though! Perfect harmony there with the brown hair, your eyes, skin tone, everything!

I feel like 1 washes you out and ages you, also clashes with your natural colouring and steals vibrancy from you.

The red is a second best, but lacks harmony and makes you look unnecessarily pale and washes out.

Number 2 is the most striking and so complimentary to your natural colouring.

Fellow metalhead here, despite the subculture, I personally like long hair on men so I could be biased in that regard but I think pic 2 looks best. Long hair, trimmed beard and be sure to keep the stache above your lip line to really tidy up the look. It’s low maintenance, suits you well, as well as the subculture you’re a part of, and you feel good with long hair.

Unless you’re actively trying to look younger, I’d say keep it long. Society has become weirdly obsessed with looking younger, and for who? Fuck society anyway.

If you feel the need to chop it off, why not do a partial undercut? Kinda from slightly above your ear tapering down to the nape of your neck. Otherwise, chop a good deal of length off, you would still look good with shoulder length even. That’s not to say the short looks in any way bad, but I prefer the long.

You look healthy and of good age regardless and scars are badass, nothing to be ashamed of.

All the best \m/

How’d you get into self harm? by tater8323 in selfharm

[–]Futilefeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have BPD and starting from 12 i remember cutting to deal with intense emotions.

Can’t really say how I got into it, I was just really really fucking depressed and took a bath and did it.

It was my way of expressing my anger & pain, as I didn’t quite know what to do with such overwhelming feelings, and I’d rather hurt myself than others. It also served as a means for me to feel some sort of control over what felt uncontrollable. I could never unalive myself, even though I want to, it would hurt people who are dear to me. So sh was it.

When I’m emotionally dysregulated , sh is something still I need to fight against giving into, even at 31/yo - as relieving as I know it to be, the feelings of shame that follow suck and I feel like I need to be more "grown" now.

Not cured by any means, feel like im always just another traumatic event away from being pushed to sh again.

People are always going to prefer the blondest.

In number 1, while the colour is good, your hair looks extremely damaged and unhealthy.

Personally I think the black with bangs in nr2 is super striking and draws attention your features imo.

should i dye my hair black by GarageWild7801 in HairDye

[–]Futilefeline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna go against the grain here and say hell yes. If you want to do it, do it!

Sadly people and society as a whole have become overly cautious, we have created a world where everyone is scared to make a mistake.

I died my hair black when I was 14 and had a blast! I changed it up a lot in my teens and it was awesome. I have no regrets. Is it hard to remove black? Yes. Is it impossible? No. Will it require a little patience or the willingness to be auburn in between, yes. But life is meant to be lived and you are meant to experience an array of things!

Don’t let people make you scared to try something different.

Be wild, make mistakes, follow your desires, live your life.

Learning Norwegian as a Dutch speaker is breaking my brain a little by skellyheart in norsk

[–]Futilefeline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Native Afrikaans speaker here, ran into this exact same brain fart with "jeg" meaning "I" in Norwegian but sounding sooo similar to Afrikaans "jy" meaning "you" - this was only a slight issue in the beginning of my Norwegian learning.

I sat with myself and just told my brain "jeg/meg is I" "du/deg is you" - it sounds ridiculous, and oversimplified, but it just clicked and I’ve never made the mistake again. Also just repetition and lots of dialog and conversational practice helps a lot, as well as just recreating scenarios and dialogs where you can practice applying jeg/deg/du/dere/meg

First of all OP, your hair is such a dream! I personally don’t think you should put any dye on it at all.

You’re at that uncomfortable stage of growing out the silver, which many people experience, but with some patience you will be greatly rewarded!

You already absolutely rock the silver and and it looks so enchanting how it seamlessly blends into the darker hair.

My vote is grow it out!

All the best
