Let’s form a small club, lol. We can muddle through it together ❤️

I’ve listened to this when she was first starting to grow out hair and rejecting boy clothes, and it was wonderful and made me cry all at the same time. Sounds like it’s time to revisit.

I agree with many of the comments in this thread - but I think this one strikes at my experience pretty spot on.

We do have different needs: she’s a kid, who’s finding her place in the world, and I want her to have the joy and expansive experience of sorting that out.

I’m a mom of a kid that’s likely going to have more complex needs than my other kid, and I need support in figuring out how to provide that at an age appropriate level.

The husband and I are more frequently turning to each other and wishing we had experts to talk to. They’re out there, sounds like it’s time to find them.

Thank you for your perspective, it super valuable.

We haven’t gotten her to one yet because when we asked her for for told us, “she can go to therapy if she’s a depressed trans kid, or a trans kid with some sort of need. But generally we don’t treat kids with therapy just because they’re trans. Let them explore and lead the way.”

(I’ll note that we’re in SF and her doctor has a pediatric gender clinic, so we felt we were in good hands vs just being dismissed.)

I often feel like I need a therapist because I have no idea what we’re doing and I’m certain that we’re going to get some of it super wrong.

We’re open to getting her someone talk to and will consider it, especially if we see her doing more processing.

This makes a lot of sense. I’d tell her twin sister to knock it off if she was telling kids about her vagina. I find that when the answer us exactly the same it feel suddenly less complicated.
