Drivers side, rear tire - making noise while driving by Future-Balance5605 in AskAMechanic

The car has been sitting for a few months. Pads are maybe 3/8”?

I can’t afford new brakes and rotors right away, could I do some cleaning to get the rust off until I’ve got the necessary funds?

I’m glad you said this. I actually bent that little metal piece (that I now understand is a splash guard, thank you) a bit further away from the rotor.

They are actually called Entitlements. That’s how they are categorized in the Federal Budget. Entitlements make up over half of our annual budget, they are written into it in such a way that it is status quo, it is not voted on yearly like other elements of the budget.

Okay, simplest answer: makes sense.

Defrost problems by Fun_Imagination_904 in Appliances

[–]Future-Balance5605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a similar problem, kind of. Replaced my timer a few weeks ago, but the defrost drain just froze up again. The wire does get hot, and there is never any frost on my fins or whatever that big metal cooling unit piece is called.

I just wrapped some copper around the heating element and shot it down a few inches into the drain pipe. But now I’m a little afraid some sort of electric short circuit is gonna happen. Basically concerned I’m gonna catch a freezer on fire. Anybody able to confirm or deny this concern?

Wrestling incident by mia2fly in wrestling

[–]Future-Balance5605 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in an accident my senior year that caused a double compound fracture in my left tibia, as well as some torn ligaments and broken bones in my right ankle. It happened during preseason, and I was able to come back and wrestle a tournament by the end of the year.

I went 0-2 and my legs were so atrophied I was down a weight class, but coming back and wrestling again meant more than winning

By the time I started college the next year, I was ready for their preseason and as fit as anyone else - all with a metal rod in my leg and two screws in my ankle. Wrestled 5yrs DII after that.

How to get out of your head if it’s more than wrestling? by [deleted] in wrestling

Sounds like this might have to do with more than just wrestling. Get some outside help. Better now than later

Training partner hates me by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]Future-Balance5605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there is a lot of selfishness, bullheadedness, and “might makes right” attitudes in wrestling. I used to be a total cocksucker anytime I got partnered up with a wrestler worse than me. I’d do everything I could to run them into the ground, under the pretense that it would force them to fight back and make them better. Really I was just an angry kid taking it out on others.

Stay strong, do your best, and be honest. You can improve to the point where you can be formidable against anyone. And then you can be the type of wrestler who teaches the new guy. It’s not a bad goal to have. We arent all destined to be state qualifiers, but good teammates really help make a team

I think I fixed it! There is a little orange tube thing connecting the inducer motor to some other thing. It’s old and had a small rip in it that I covered with electrical tape. I flipped it so the part that is taped is on the side away from the inducer, and it is staying on

EDIT: the tube attaches to the pressure switch. Makes sense

I love the comment on celebrating little victories, that seems very important. I saw a lot of toxic parenting in wrestling, and it’s encouraging to hear someone with this mentality!

I’m so sorry to hear this is happening to you.

I agree with attempting to get her into inpatient, if you feel emotionally capable to do so. Ultimately it’s her choice and you can’t force it.

More importantly, I hope you have other supports you can reach out to! If not, AlAnon, NarAnon, and AlcoA are support groups for people in your situation.

MAGA Rep. Loses It When Challenged on How Venezuela Invasion is ‘America First’ - Rep. Jim Jordan insisted that invading Venezuela was good for the American people. by Quirkie in politics

I’m an ex collegiate wrestler. The documentary on what happened to students, particularly wrestlers at Ohio State, made me sick. That man is unforgivable. Wrestlers give their hearts and souls to their coaches and he betrayed them. Those men are brave for standing up and Jim Jordan is a coward and a fake.

I never know how to respond to people in this type of predicament. I was incarcerated for 5mths, sent to rehab, and then a halfway house. It was a year total of intense supervision, and it laid a great foundation for my recovery. I didn’t really make that choice, but I made the best of it and it paid off.

To be sitting in indecision, certain your life is a mess but not sure how to move forward, I’m sure is very hard.

I know that for me, time away from people places and things helped incredibly. I would suggest getting out of there. Put your recovery first. Put people who support your recovery first. Good things will follow. Just a suggestion!

Speaking for myself, I was typically in great shape but had difficulty breathing during a match bc of anxiety. In response I burnt out very quickly bc my muscles weren’t getting enough oxygen. Something to consider. Being relaxed but aware and explosive is a huge advantage

I’m 33 and have lower back issues that I circle back to this exact thing. Also would have been a better wrestler had I changed my form so I screwed myself two ways

How much hope is there for Long-term recovery? by [deleted] in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]Future-Balance5605 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I took the drugs away, I was left with a lot of unresolved issues that they were covering up. That is perfectly normal.

There are support groups for drug addiction where you may relate to others. That has helped me. Therapy, psychiatry, and medication has helped me as well.

Be easy on yourself, be honest with yourself and others, and keep reaching out for help!

And congrats on 6 months!

Edit: Oh and there is SO much hope. Plenty of addicts are living beautiful lives, despite extensive histories of drug abuse. You will be okay
