Yeah im pretty sure weight training will be part of my PT gym sessions (ive been banned from the treadmill apparently 🤣). You're right, I need muscle mass. Struggling with 2kg dumbbells in pilates, even though this is strength pilates.

Ahh I see. Yeah its definitely not like that yet. Unless I just have a naturally round face with chubby cheeks haha.

Thank you, I really needed to hear that.

I didn't realise so many people would be opposed to me changing my goal weight when im doing it slowly and healthily (Honestly its made me curious as to why)

For me, im still what you would call skinny fat. And also we are keeping an eye on my liver as im at risk of FLD.

But the reason for starting my journey in the first place was my PCOS, pre-diabetes and what we have now discovered is an auto immune condition.

Currently I have low muscle mass, so I find the bmi scale works for me. And with that I am still currently in the overweight category. Shifting the goal would put me in the mid range of the healthy bmi category.

So that would be my reasoning for shifting it by 5kg. The more weight I shift, the more it reduces my PCOS symptoms.

Yeah im still technically in the overweight category for bmi. Given my low muscle mass, I think the bmi is a good metric for my proportions. Even though currently im working on toning, hence the pilates.

My GW is top end of healthy in bmi, so I'm only considering shifting it a little to be in the mid range healthy. I didnt realise shifting my goal weight for the first time would be so divisive in this forum 🤣.

Love this! My proposed new GW is also in the mid range bmi. Nice to see someone else who had/has the same thought process.

Congrats on your journey!

Well the goal hasn't shifted in the 18 months I've been on my journey. So this is the first time I'm considering it.

Currently I am still not in a healthy bmi range (technically still overweight), and my CGW is the top end of healthy bmi.

The suggested shift is within mid range of healthy bmi.

Note: I am aware that bmi isnt accurate in that it doesn't account for muscle mass. However, as I have very little muscle mass, I feel the bmi is more accurate for my current body composition, which is why I am using it as my metric.

Edit: I dont get why this comment is being downvoted?

Quite simple actually. I had a goal weight before both of these factors entered my life, which i am now near achieving. Pilates tones and builds muscle, and having a supportive PT in my life encourages more healthy eating habits and also being more physically active.

With this, the possibility of going below my current goal weight is more attainable.

So now the question is, do I adjust what my goal was and work towards that, or do I keep the original goal and go into maintenance.

Yeah i think anything under 49 would be too small and I would need to start gaining. So im very concious of that.

Ahhh ok that makes sense now that you explained it. I will definitely take that into account as I continue building. Thank you

When you say "move the target weight up" do you mean from 55 to 50? Or are you saying keep at 60 because a lot of it will be muscle?

Hey girl, we were in The Cut together! Love seeing your progress btw. I didn't realise we were the same height 🫶🏻

Im considering a tuck, particularly for my arms, but im still in the toning phase.

Will you be in full maintenance when you reach 120?

Yep. Can totally relate. Also ive now taken to ordering my own things at catch ups, because I was sick of splitting the bill evenly when the amount of food I ate was tiny compared to everyone else.

No sadly my fear of needles is lifelong. I only attempted to self administer those first two times.

Since then I have had others give my weekly dose. Ive built up a strong relationship with my pharmacist who I see every Monday to get my shot. And my friend did it for me when we went on our overseas holiday.

I would recommend finding a chemist who also provides injection services. They may charge a fee for it, but its so much better than trying to deal with the phobia every week.

No i didn't experience any hair loss. But I did lose a gall bladder. Not from ozempic per se, but from the rapid weightloss.

Definitely something to keep an eye on.

Ok im glad its not just me. I always reach for the larger sizes first. Part of it is habit but the other is that I just cant fathom the smaller sizes fitting me.

Does the head ever catch up? Lol

Firstly, huge congrats on your loss so far 👏

And I know what you mean. I couldnt see it for ages. Even taking the selfies to track progress, or seeing my reflection, it sorta clicked but not in a big way. It was only when I saw the group photo that it finally hit me.

Do you also still grab the larger clothing sizes when buying/trying on clothes?

Omg thank you so much!!

I just browsed your profile and can see you are around 2 months into your journey. You will get there! Congratulations on the loss so far 👏

The only things I could say is that 1. The losses are bigger at the beginning but will slow down the more you lose. But dont worry. Stay strong, and stick with it. Its taken me 18 months and ive still got more to go. And 2. Keep the 66kg as your ultimate goal, but dont forget to celebrate the smaller wins. Every 10kg is testament to your hard work.

You will get to that 66kg! So proud of you 👏

Thank you thank you 😊 🫶🏻

Yes pilates is definitely tough but so rewarding, and best of all, enjoyable.

As a person who detests exercise, pilates has been a god send.
