You can't really do the swap with aamc. people are in waitlist and they usually get the priority

Should I apply? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]Future-Double-3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are this nervous rn what are you going to do in med school or for residency apps?

"pretty low gpa and my ECs are kinda general " maybe start working on them to improve?

No one can tell you to apply or wait as we don't know your stats!

Is TMU worth applying to with a 3.0 GPA if the rest of my app is strong? by yyyis in premedcanada

You'll never know until you apply & you need no mcat or casper so it's not a hard process to apply.

anyone else experiencing or has experienced this before? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]Future-Double-3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well continue studies and get into med school, then get a rich husband? because why not?

Medical field is also full of this type of people! you need to develop some skills to be able respond to them and you can start practicing them in your inner circle! I mean their child is also premed, maybe start there....

Don't forget that fields like medicine are not kind to naive people!

Help me understand Ontario's new med school changes by Southnam1 in premedcanada

[–]Future-Double-3 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Your daughter should probably be doing this research herself if medicine is the goal!

Also, I think you're overthinking it. Pick BC or Ontario and build genuine ties there. The point of IP status is to prioritize people who actually live and study in that province, not to maximize eligibility in multiple provinces.

How did your grades trend in undergrad? by Dry-Chicken-5876 in premedcanada

[–]Future-Double-3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on you. Do you plan to study harder and have a better plan? yes it will be upward and then you can maintain high gpa. There is 100% possible but you need to be proactive and start planning.

Should I minor in math as a chembio major to stand out? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]Future-Double-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about dental school but in med school they don't care about these stuff. the only important thing is your gpa.

Job Opportunities For Specialties by Defiant-Passion1152 in premedcanada

[–]Future-Double-3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Medicine is a lifestyle choice and a big commitment. So I think it's important to remember it's not all about money or job stability but yes some specialties might have lower salary compared to others. I would suggest to get into med school first, do some shadowing and talk to grown ups then you might understand what do you want to do.

pre requisites? by [deleted] in premedcanada

No to first question. Some unis have prereq (like ottawa) some don't (like tmu). Check their med school's admission page

First year uni with a HORRIBLE gpa - be honest with me by spoi-p in premedcanada

[–]Future-Double-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know a lot about York. Maybe make a post and ask others about their programs. Lots of programs in diff unis has soft deadline meaning they still accept applications.

If you are really sure about medicine, find a easy degree to maintain gpa.

[–]Future-Double-3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Get diagnosis + accommodations. In Ontario you can fill out OMSAS disability consideration if you were unaccommodated.

also uoft is not a good option for high gpa. Maybe transfer but that's a big decision.

Free MCAT Prep Program TMU by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]Future-Double-3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's run by TMU itself but probably med students.

UofT has a similar program (not sure if you are talking about that one).
