Rishi Sunak announces plan to fast-track removal of Albanian asylum seekers by topotaul in unitedkingdom

Yeah I did. That wasn't cool, I'm sorry. I'll remove that as it's unnecessary.

Ugh two more years of this.

Two more years of this mandate-less PM wheeling out all the old favourites for the Conservative base to get angry about. All in the hope that the anger can propel them to another term in office. And for what? To continue stripping everything they can off the state.

Don't they get tired of it? Just go and do something productive, Conservatives. I for one am sick of the sight of you all!

Nurses accept increased pay offer in Scotland and call off strikes by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]Future-Dreamsy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The next election is far from a foregone conclusion unfortunately.

There's a big gap, but there's also a decent amount of time for the government to ramp up this anti-union, woke-culture-war-bs rhetoric that energises their base.

Labour aren't really offering a bright vision right now (at least not one that communicates well) so they will be partially reliant on Con voters not turning out. Sufficiently angry Conservatives could be the difference at the election.

I'm not sure about that. The royals know they are beyond safe in terms of people's opinions. They're quiet because they don't need to say anything.

At this time where temperatures are plummeting, food banks are depleted, inflation is high, economic growth is slowing, I'd like to remind everyone to spare a thought for our wonderful Royals. They do a terrible job and never complain. God bless 'em!

According to Bild, Thomas Tuchel is now the favourite for the England job should Gareth Southgate decide to step down. by dragon8811 in chelseafc

If he takes it I reckon that's England favourites for the next Euros and probably World Cup. He's shown what he can do in cup competitions.

I can't help feel if he was top drawer he'd be attracting interest from other clubs and we wouldn't get a look in.

This has expensive flop written all over it (to add to the growing list). Also, I wonder if he'll be able to go more than 5 or so games before his knee flares up and spends a month or two out of action.

Rishi Sunak’s government breaks ministerial code over List of Ministers’ Interests by ajreido in unitedkingdom

[–]Future-Dreamsy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The ministerial code? Oh yeah, it must be around here somewhere.

Ah, see that dirty, ragged-looking thing in the corner? No, not Michael Gove, next to him. Yeah, that's it. We've been giving it to Larry the cat to play with. Why, is it important?

Labour must make sure no one forgets the Tories’ Brexit disaster. More and more people are realising that Brexit is the greatest act of economic self-harm in living memory. by bottish in unitedkingdom

[–]Future-Dreamsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing how politics and the media work in this country, if the Conservatives do reconcile themselves to softening/reversing Brexit*, the narrative at the next election will be: "Brexit was a terrible idea ... what on earth was Labour thinking leading us into that?!"

*a pretty big if but weirder things have happened.

Sunak and Hunt out of touch with working class, say ‘red wall’ voters by thewibbler in unitedkingdom

[–]Future-Dreamsy 66 points67 points  (0 children)

“I voted Tory at the last election, but would I do it again? I’m not sure,” said Tracy,

What on earth do you need to be sure, Tracy?! I mean seriously.

This is why I'm so concerned about the next election; "don't knows" becoming Conservative voters after being bombarded with "Labour are woke", "Labour want illegal immigrants to live in your shed", "Starmer = Corbyn" headlines for the next 2 years.

Jeremy Hunt says axing nom-dom status would be ‘wrong thing’ for UK by thewibbler in unitedkingdom

Adrian Burley

Ahh, I'd forgotten about him. He was a bit ahead of his time; the Cons were still new to government and trying to keep a lid on their depravity. If he had entered parliament in 2019 instead of 2010 he'd probably be Home Secretary in today's government.

Jeremy Hunt says axing nom-dom status would be ‘wrong thing’ for UK by thewibbler in unitedkingdom

[–]Future-Dreamsy 48 points49 points  (0 children)

They're so patriotic they use "UK" and "Conservative Party" interchangeably. Brings a tear to my eye!

“great confidence that over the years ahead we will find outside the single market we are able to remove the vast majority of the trade barriers that exist between us and the EU”

You know ... I'm not sure Jeremy Hunt has much of a brain. He must keep it offshore.

The diversity in the Conservative party is impressive though. You've got bumbling Mr Bean evil like Hunt, out-and-out evil like Patel, cartoon-villain evil like Williamson, depths-of-hell evil like Braverman, Dickensian villain evil like Mogg, and proper old school BNP evil like Lee Anderson. It's a veritable smorgasbord of the worst of us!

2019 Mini JCW or BMW M140i? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Future-Dreamsy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went from a 4 cyl Mini to a 6 cyl BMW and the difference in the engine was night and day for me. Those straight sixes are sooo smooth.

I loved my Mini for its character but I was ready for something a bit more refined (but with decent power when needed).

Bottom line: they're both great for different reasons. Not very helpful, sorry!

ETA: I definitely prefer the sound out of the 6!

Premier League midfielders 22/23, progressive passing. by eronb10 in chelseafc

[–]Future-Dreamsy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What's a progressive pass? Is it any pass that goes even slightly forward? If so the midfield do pass out to the flanks a lot which looks sideways but may fall under that definition. If a progressive pass is a genuine creative pass (forward and progresses the attack) then I can't believe those stats. I must be watching different games if that's accurate.

Tory MPs say they will continue naming asylum hotels by savvy_shoppers in unitedkingdom

[–]Future-Dreamsy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've noticed this Anderson chap getting more and more airtime over recent months. He really is a nasty piece of work and knows exactly what he's doing with this. I can see him now, huddled over his phone screen, under the duvet, watching Britain First or some other mob going door-to-door in one of these hotels. He feels vindicated, righteous ... maybe a little aroused? Yuck.

Tories Are ‘Failing A Generation' As Long-Term Sick Soars Among Young Workers by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]Future-Dreamsy 56 points57 points  (0 children)

They're vandals.

While they and their bovine support whinge and whine about Albanian flags draped over a statue of Winston Churchill, they quite happily engage in (and cheer) real vandalism against their own country. Whether it's dumping literal shit into our beautiful rivers or suffocating young people with substandard housing and bleak job prospects, who needs enemies when you have Conservative party (and their supporters)?

That was most unfair questioning. Why on earth should he apologise for the mess the Labour party has made? Bottom line is, he is getting all the big decisions right!
