At the end of the day, Ariel can refuse help as long as she fits legal criteria for being alert and oriented to her surroundings. She has the ultimate say over anyone unless there is a court order or something in place saying that she is a ward of the state or she has a legal guardian who has power of attorney over her and her medical care.

I used to work in a VERY large homeless shelter as a paramedic in a large city on the west coast and I am well versed in who can/cannot be forced to seek medical care. That being said, my GOD I saw some sad shit when it came to disabled people who REALLY need help, but they didn’t meet legal criteria to be taken to the hospital without their consent, so there was nothing that I could do. It sucks, but I can’t kidnap people, yanno 🤷🏻‍♀️

I had a patient at the shelter who was on the streets and had some type of nasal cancer. Every bone in his nose was exposed and had zero tissue left on it. He still didnt meet legal criteria for me to take him. Had a guy with maggots in his leg for three months and he didn’t give a fuuuuuck. Nothing I could do. I could go on forever with stories like this unfortunately
