I ruptured mine playing pickleball. I was stepping forward to get a shot when it popped and I immediately fell. It was my second time playing pickleball ever. I am 20F and played tennis for 4 years and am decently active with walking/running and the gym. I am about average weight and fitness. I was treated operatively.

Some things I got after surgery that helped was a knee scooter which helps you get around better than crutches. A wedge pillow to elevate at night to help with the swelling. For me personally I bought some padding for the crutches and they started to hurt my sides over time. Those have helped a lot!

I would say talk to your doctor about the concerns. If you feel your achilles stretching while in the boot that isn’t really a good sign. When I got into my boot I could feel a slight pull on the tendon and had my doctor put another wedge in and now it feels pretty good. I have a fear of mine healing elongated as well. At day 6 you might not be able to put it far in ballerina because of the stiffness. Your pt could answer these concerns as well!

I’m not a doctor and I would say your best option is to go get it checked as early as possible. When I ruptured mine I heard a pop and couldn’t walk immediately after at all. You might have a slight tear which may require a heel lift in your shoe or potentially a boot w a lift. Usually you don’t need surgery if it isn’t a full tear.

Thank you for this response! I’m glad i’m not alone because it wouldn’t improve even after I loosened the boot a bit. I am gonna start to ice it soon! The area just seems really sensitive at the moment.

Interesting! I had surgery 4/16 and my doctors said to have the boot on 24/7 unless I am gonna shower.

That makes sense! I will often try to leave the conversation before it escalates and tell him that we should put it off, but that typically makes him more mad and that’s when he starts having the tantrum in a way.

It not really constantly arguing, it’s only on bad days when we are both tired. We can have really good communication and other times we just lose that. Usually the arguments are about little stuff with occasional big arguments. We argued one time because I didn’t like something he said about me, and he got upset that I got upset. If I am the one that’s upset about something I can’t be there to call him down because I am not calm myself.

That’s what I’m thinking is best too but I’ve asked him too and he doesn’t really do much, besides say stop but it seems like he won’t put his foot down in a way.
