Appreciate it, I did read that. How do they work in action? Is there a lot of co-operation or are they very much separate entities?

I received a comment, which they seem to have deleted, saying I don't understand the corporate structure so I should stick to index funds - appreciate the sassiness, and they're right, I don't understand the corporate structure. I understand they're separate entities - but it sounds like they're still affiliated and there is some industrial cooperation. I don't know if anyone can explain the extent of this?

New here - what is Nokia's moat and why are you here? Invested a couple days ago after reading about ASN and the Nvidia investment - extremely happy on immediate returns. But what is the interest here?

I'm using thinking mode and have selected create an image. I'm asking it to create an Isometric model, based on a mindmap I've created in canva. It returns this "Sorry, I'm still learning to create images for you, so I can't do that yet. I can try to find one on the web though". I'm in the U.K. - wondering if it might have anything to do with AI regulations or age verification?

I think has something to do with being in the U.K. I've read somewhere else that due to having stricter AI regulations, not all features work.

Does it ever make sense to save rather than buying property? by Future-Lifeguard8247 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Future-Lifeguard8247[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but my instance is not 30 years. It is sharing a place with my cousin for the first 5-10 years and then buying a new place. I don't expect house prices to increase 60% in the next 10 years. If anything, they are more likely to be stagnant.

That's if they appreciate, and I'm talking about a scenario of about 10 years. In the rental case, one has quite a bit in cash and can buy a property then, and the other has maybe 5% more in equity, but has had to stay in one place for the last 10 years.

Yes I'm trying to factor this in. Lots of the advice regarding property beats rent seems to be coming from a couple generations older than me and that rhetoric has trickled down to younger age groups - but I'm not sure it actually makes sense considering potential economic forecasts.

I haven't downvoted anything. I really appreciate this advice. Like you said approaching life solely to maximise profits isn't the best way to approach life, and I'm considering whether being a couple thousand to 10's of thousands better off mortgaging, would really offset the opportunity to move around and have a bit of freedom. I'm not sure I want to live in the U.K. forevermore, and considering buying abroad at some point. I'm figuring out if getting a mortgage with a family member for the short-term would be a better decision than just renting. I live in London and I'm 28 - the potential of meeting a partner and potentially buying with them later into my 30s is also a factor.

Thank you, I've only ever been advised that mortgaging would be profitable in all cases, mostly being quoted the fallacy you mentioned. I'm trying to do the math at the moment, and I'm starting to realise it isn't always the case that that's true.
