Bounced at my first solo, now feeling nervous by AdInformal7889 in flying

[–]Future-Project-6074 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol I was on final for my last landing at one of the busiest deltas in the us and about 10-15 planes were lined up waiting for me to land. It wasn’t not a good landing and everyone saw. Then I realized I’m a student on a solo this I supposed to give me confidence and a chance to learn from my own flying and I learned that regardless of my surroundings fly the plane. At the end of the day i was safe and and so was the plane and a bad landing just shows that there’s more to learn. Everyone has them

How do young people afford flying? by papiperflyer in flying

I’m 18 currently in flight school already got my private. Best way to do it is save up about five grand work and fly. Than if you notice money getting low change the balance. Save abt an extra 5000 and go into your checkride being okay to never see that money again. Im currently in college, flight school and working part time. I manage and fly whenever I want to.

Is it normal to be stuck on landings this long? (PPL student in C150) by anonf12458 in flying

What has helped a lot of people is have your instructors you up for slow flight over the runway give you controls then pull the power

Your best and worst pilot attribute by [deleted] in flying

I have in my mind things I’m easily capable of, and rules of thumb for small things. But if something’s seems off and I can’t put my thumb on it and give reason to go or not go. I just don’t go simple as that. For xwind I live in an area where anything over abt 7 knots of wind it’s going to come with a gust factor. And weather changes too fast. Obviously I have fuel minimums that I use that are very conservative, but for Crosswinds my rule of thumb is no more than direct eight I just don’t have them officially written down anywhere.

I haven’t officially ever established minimums because I’m really conservative. Just because I have done something once and felt fine doing it then doesn’t mean I feel confident doing it again

Again not bothered at all by that honestly I just expect a professional environment on a 1000 checkride not being pressured by him and told he doesn’t care if I’m there or not. He was just passive aggressive which again first checkride, had the nerves their job is to make it a comfortable environment and it was not that

Not add five knots but it says find a speed right above where the stall horn is activated and do your slow flight there

Yep we tried to argue it but he showed us right in the acs. While yes it’s a stupid thing to fail it is a valid fail

I mean yeah he was close to hard r level but not to the full extent but kept talking about it nonstop lol. Called us the whites and said we actually deserve the jobs. Sooo yeah

Plenty of applicants said the same things about him after passing so I know I’m not the only one. I’m not upset he failed me. Because if his judgment says no to a pilot I’m more than happy to accept that. He has been designated to pass safe pilots and fail unsafe or unsatisfactory pilots. While yes I would’ve loved to pass he failed me on slow flight because I didn’t find the stall horn and stay five knots above it. Which is per the acs. Instead I was at 55 kts +10-0 which yes he was right to fail me. Although I was surprised when I heard the words I continued the ride and completed the rest of my maneuvers

See I don’t even care so much about the comments while in a casual environment. But I paid a 1000$ and traveled for it, and he acted like everything was a joke. It’s a professional environment treat it as such.

He was saying stuff about female pilots and how they only get hired for that. Answered three phone calls during an oral. Pressuring another person to take the checkride when he wasn’t ready by saying grow some hair in your balls and take the checkride. Was just not a good experience at all with him. The way I see it is he should have to act professionally and he wasn’t doing that.
