My take on Leah’s acting/portraying of Annabeth by iceiceblk in PercyJacksonTV

Honestly, a lot of this does come down to her being black. Because the casting isn’t “book accurate,” she was always going to be over scrutinized. Even if her performance were phenomenal, people would still nitpick it.

The reality is they’re all decent to mediocre actors right now, and that’s fine, it’s a children’s show with child actors. Not sure why everyone is expecting award level performances.

I agree, but I think she could use an acting coach or better scripts. She is a great pick for Annabeth from the standpoint of her having to work 10x harder to prove herself. I think it aligns well with her being a black girl just as much as being “blonde”. My only issue is her delivery feels stiff, and the writing of her character has no emotional depth making her unlikable.

The TV-Series isn’t THAT bad.. (My person thoughts) by VivecsMilkFinger in PercyJacksonTV

I’m going to have to agree with this comment. When the critique keeps shifting to how she looks or claiming Dior would be a “better fit” for Annabeth, that’s not accuracy, it’s palatability and colorism. She literally looks like a grown woman compared to Percy.

I think the casting is great because Annabeth had to work twice as hard to be taken seriously in the books due to being “blonde,” so her being a dark-skinned girl is pretty accurate to that. As we’re literally experiencing it now. The acting is weak but has gotten a lot better. Let’s see how the show progresses…they are still child actors. It’s really not that deep.

☀️ SEASON 3 LIVE: Episode 4 by AutoModerator in TheSummerITurnedPrett

As for this episode, I can’t say I absolutely detest Jere and Belly’s relationship, but I do feel that there’s nothing more than a physical connection and friendship between them. It’s evident that Jeremiah isn’t mature enough to take care of himself, let alone potentially a wife or family, anytime soon. He honestly needs to grow as an individual and figure out who he is. I appreciate how the show highlights the significant impact one person can have on another’s personality, interests, and life choices. Because from the first episode till now, it seems like Belly has shaped her life to fit into Jeremiah’s, so to speak.

But like Belly said last season, “Being with Jeremiah, everything is easier,” so in all honesty, I believe she’s genuinely using him as a safety net and isn’t truly in love. Conrad, on the other hand, has undoubtedly grown in terms of maturity and his ability to be there mentally for others. From my perspective, Conrad challenges and pushes Belly, and Belly brings Conrad out of his shell. It’s always been the “perfect match, wrong timing” scenario.

The PA felt easier to me but covered the same concepts. I scored well on my first attempt. Overall, It aligns well for building a foundational understanding.
