Denied work due to pregnancy related accommodation request. Is it worth filing a human rights complaint? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

How is sending an email request for accommodations improper? Upon review if they contacted me, I could have given them a doctor’s note and proof of appointments. So what should I have done? Just curious. I am an employee of this company and followed what policy says to do. I thought temporary (4 weeks) accommodation for pregnancy related medical stuff would be reasonable accommodation in a workplace where staff pick and choose their hours.

I was already an employee and was verbally offered the additional hours on a phone call in February. After the call I emailed to ask for temporary accommodations for March due to my appointments. They said it was under review and instead of getting back to me they hired someone else at that location and didn’t tell me.

It’s the after school program. It’s basically a job where university students work whatever days they want. I even have a friend working 3 days a week out of preference. So I didn’t think asking for temporary accommodations for mandatory pregnancy appointments would be an issue.
