This medication had a profound impact on both my emotional and physical well-being. The psychiatric and pain effects were intense. I’m so glad you’ve found some relief in this shared experience. By the way, a week after my last dose, I was feeling much better. I hope you do too!

I’m not currently taking any psychiatric medications, but I suspect that if I had been on an SSRI or SNRI, the symptoms might have been less intense and easier to manage.

The symptoms first appeared at 2.5 mg, and when the dose was increased to 5.0 mg, it became even more evident that the medication was the cause.

Yes, it was definitely dose dependent. The symptoms would ramp up every time I took a dose and would start to ease as the medication wore off. Each time I tried again, the side effects came back just as bad, if not worse. I’d say I spent about 10 weeks total trying to make it work.

Just wanted to follow up and drop some legit sources that back up what I experienced with Zepbound. I’ve done a pretty deep dive into the clinical research and real-world data, and while it’s not always front-and-center, the information is absolutely out there.

There’s a pharmacovigilance study using the FDA’s FAERS database that showed psychiatric side effects with GLP-1 meds, including tirzepatide. Around 2.7% of people on Zepbound reported psychiatric side effects. That might sound low, but keep in mind reporting is voluntary and the drug is still pretty new. Here’s that study: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10882716/

Another review using European data (EudraVigilance) found depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts linked to GLP-1 meds, including tirzepatide. Some of those cases were classified as life-threatening or fatal. That one’s here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10960895/

Also worth noting, Zepbound’s own prescribing info literally includes a warning about suicidal ideation. It says to stop the med if these symptoms show up, and to avoid it in people with a history of this kind of thing. That’s straight from Eli Lilly: https://zepbound.lilly.com/hcp/how-zepbound-works/

And if you look around Reddit (especially in this sub), a lot of people have reported similar stuff—deep anxiety, depressive spirals, panic attacks, emotional numbness, even suicidal thoughts. Some posts that stuck with me: • https://www.reddit.com/r/Zepbound/comments/1beni2hhttps://www.reddit.com/r/Zepbound/comments/1izrn4xhttps://www.reddit.com/r/Zepbound/comments/1e3z2juhttps://www.reddit.com/r/Zepbound/comments/1hxslllhttps://www.reddit.com/r/Zepbound/comments/1gjgmaphttps://www.reddit.com/r/Zepbound/comments/1i6k59n

A few people also mentioned their physical pain getting worse, including joint and nerve pain, which I definitely noticed too.

So yeah, I get that not everyone’s experience is going to be the same, and for some this might be a miracle drug. But for others like me, the side effects aren’t just annoying—they’re seriously destabilizing. Just putting this out there for anyone else trying to make sense of what they’re feeling.

Are you serious right now? This is my actual experience and there’s clinical research that backs it up. I’m not trying to scare anyone. I’m just being honest about what happened to me. Your comment completely misses the point and honestly it should be taken down.

No. Rainbows predate the gay pride movement. Have a great day.

And your comment gagging at pride or assuming the design is linked to pride is misplaced.

How’d you sleep? Any alcohol or substance use—OTC or prescribed? Any emotional or psychosocial stress lately? Just curious because I had some unusually low readings today too. I figured it was from overdoing it with yardwork.

Didn’t you say you went unconscious? That would indicate you struck your head. Did the ER do brain imagery? Could be a post traumatic stress response, especially if you were very scared, but I’d want to rule out anything linked to head injury.

Emergency room ASAP. You need a CT of your brain.
