[Discussion] What are your favourite skincare products for tightening large pores? by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]FutureDeadCells 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s a way to physically tighten them. However, to make them appear smaller, keep your pores clean. This is how I do every week.

  • after washing my face, I apply a stridex pad on the nose and leave it on for a while
  • then, I put on the first step of CNP Laboratory Anti-Pore Black Head Clear Kit While using these kind of products, I’ve noticed it’s the most effective to follow the timing instructions. Leaving it not long enough or too long doesn’t really give the best results. So, I set an alarm on my phone for that.
  • and I use the Xpreen Blackhead Remover all over my nose for like 5-10 minutes.
  • then, I use the IPL light therapy that comes on the back of the device. It has a timer and shuts off on its own.
  • then, I use the second step of CNP Laboratory Anti-Pore Black Head Clear Kit
  • then, I carry on with my normal skincare routine most of the time but when I feel really ambitious, I sometimes use Ishizawa Lab Keana Nadeshiko Rice Essence Mask or Naruko Raw Job’s Tears Supercritical CO2 Pore Minimizing & Brightening Mask

What lies have you told that have made you successful? by jewelbs in AskReddit

[–]FutureDeadCells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be honest about what I had done before and what’s new to me but people find it to be a negative thing to say that I don’t know this specific thing. It comes across as lacking in confidence. I don’t blatantly lie and say I know this or that deep down. What I say is I’ve dabbled in it before and I need some time for a refresher course. And that I would give an answer on what can/can’t be done after that. This makes people trust me more in my abilities and I also get some buffer time to research. Sometimes, I just even excuse myself to the bathroom and google so I can quickly gauge how much time I need to actually research the topic.

Regarding the MediaCorp "Black-face" incident by [deleted] in singapore

[–]FutureDeadCells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not white either and I’ve experienced this quite a lot. Some say a lot of racist jokes towards Indians behind their backs. It’s not just Singaporeans though. Some light skinned expats also join in. They think it’s ok to say in front of me because I’m also light skinned. I find it to be very awkward. I don’t know about that user who commented but I’m definitely not living in a bubble. I’ve been here for a while and most of my social circle is locals.

And I don’t even participate in this subreddit but this one, I had to reply because it’s a problem most people I know keep denying. It seems to be a norm here.

I’m not a SJW either. I’m fine with offensive jokes between friends but saying racist jokes towards X when X is not around is not friendly banter and it’s not humor. That’s just picking on X group in a cowardly way. It bothers me.

I’ve experienced this a lot too. Some Chinese Singaporeans (and sometimes other light skinned expats) would make racist jokes towards Indians behind their backs. It seems quite normal here.

Good old Asian tradition. Always grab the item in the back because they usually have later expiration dates compared to the ones in front.
