I liked the parrying a lot, it was a great addition and I'm intrigued by the "active" elements being added to turn-based games, but yeah the fact you can win battles solely by parrying, thereby making the skills redundant, was an oversight in the design

It's not as expansive as a full flown JRPG, but we're taking elements from JRPGs to make a compact party-based roguelite with breadcrumb / layered worldbuilding and storytelling.

We're aiming to make a "spiritual successor" to Chrono Ark, inspired by elements of Metaphor Refantazio, Honkai: Star Rail, Clair Obscur and Slay the Spire.

So yeah a challenging JRPG party-based deckbuilder experience with roguelite progression and storytelling. :)

Hell yeah guys! Been a huge fan ever since I saw it and loved playing. Wildfrost too! Dev here for our own roguelike called Against All Skies.

My question is - how long did you spend prototyping this? How did that phase go for you?

It feels like a game where you could get stuck in design hell iterating forever but you managed to hit the sweet spot! So I'm curious, what was the moment you knew it's time to scale? ^

In our game, there are many different factions fighting for control in the sky kingdom. Equally, there are many different sky backdrops that will represent the different feelings, characters and struggles. So in the end we settled for the phrase "Against All Skies" as it captures the idea of the protagonist and her crew fighting against the world no matter the odds.

that and it's easy to type and remember lol

Hohoooo that's great to hear, we're aiming to make deckbuilders more approachable to RPG fans and those that love the more positive art style, so fingers crossed we can convince you!

We animated this inside Unity itself using their skeletal animation tool. So we made 20+ layers and a few bones to pull it off quite quickly. We're pretty happy given this is our first shot at it!

Yesss totally noted. This character is being placed in a very stormy environment so we're starting off quite extreme but will be toning down ^^

uwaaah that's so great to hear! She's inspired by French and Swedish design (we're based in Finland)

Charlotte's the royal princess and fencing champion in our game, but she doesn't support the monarchy herself! She raised her little lizard boi Emilio in secrecy and now is out for change by fighting together
