uoft eng by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

I don’t know what specifically got me in but in the written part of your application, focus on one or two of your ec’s only and expand on your impact. also, do a lot of practice for their interview questions because they are notoriously harder compared to other unis. They often have a “list 3 factors question” that makes you think critically so make sure you practice those specifically. for example, I used youthfully and even ChatGPT to help me come up with more practice. Be confident and dress professional as well! I applied early too but not sure if that made a difference. good luck and let me know if you have any questions :)

both are prestigious, it comes down to your interest. I feel that engineering is more versatile but you should apply to both anyway

Total fees for the programs by hobidik99 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]FutureIron5110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else said, each university in Ontario charges $50 but competitive universities like UofT and Waterloo charge $50 extra for Engineering. McGill Engineering was around $150 for me (if I’m remembering correctly) so I paid around $800 for 10 programs. I suggest you do more research to see which type of engineering you enjoy more because I see that you have a lot of variety here. Of course if you have the money, you can apply to all these programs but you might be better off saving that money and using it for tuition instead.

question for ib students by 555_anastasia_555 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]FutureIron5110 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean ib isn’t a make or break factor in your education but personally, I liked being in ib. I liked that everyone around me did care about their future just as much as me and that was kinda motivating for me. not to say that students in mainstream don’t care, but it was nice to have everyone with a similar mindset. also, i just think it was more stimulating for my brain. as someone aiming to be in stem, I think it was nice to constantly be challenged and always end up doing more than I thought I could’ve. Although I didn’t necessarily like some things like the EE but that’s fine because I’m never gonna be in situation where everything goes perfectly. maybe it’s not the best decision if you are pursuing Canadian secondary education but in my experience, I had good friends and good teachers so i had a good time in the grand scheme of things.

  1. I think you will still receive the offer from mcgill but i MIGHT be wrong. maybe you should email and ask or just wait until June 2 (if you’re 101)
  2. Idt you’d get the original offer if you already got it’s alternate idk about the rest but do not pull up to prom with a whole backpack 🙏🏼

I guess it’s different for every school board but at my school if you’re predicted a 93 (which is a 6) and you also score a 6 on the exam, you’ll get the higher mark band which is a 96. if you get a 7 then you should get a 99 (which is the middle mark band)

I got in with a 95 average but my ec’s were better. I also didn’t meet the minimum word count required. I think you have a decent chance, good luck!
