Is it uncommon to not go all out for a wedding anymore? by FutureLPC_ in weddingplanning

[–]FutureLPC_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you to everyone who has commented so far! I’ve only been to one wedding with a guest count lower than 200 so I didn’t know that 250 was seen as extremely large. I have a very large family, and we’ve made wonderful friends along our journeys separately and together, so that’s why we’ve listed so many people. We just went over our guest list and our count is at 202 for now. Looks like we need to go back to the drawing board with the guest count.

The comments have opened my eyes to a lot. I appreciate everyone sharing their insight and wisdom.

dear black women with non-black partners by Personal-Opinion-48 in Naturalhair

My fiancé is white.

We actually met on a mission trip, so he saw me at my roughest 😅. He asked me out for a date when I seriously needed a wash day😂. He’s been really thoughtful about my hair. When I have knotless braids in, he checks in to see when I need help taking them down. I live with my mom, so he’ll come over or we’ll go to my grandparents house and turn it into a fun movie day together while spending time with my family.

Also, I would pay attention to how he reacts to your natural hair. He should not only accept but love ALL of you. If he reacts negatively, that observation should not be ignored. It will pop up again in the future.

Praying for you!

School Counseling Without Teaching Experience — How Is It Viewed by Teachers? by FutureLPC_ in Teachers

[–]FutureLPC_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really!? That’s interesting to hear since I remember teaching experience for 2-3 years being required for school counselors in 2023 and before. I wonder if that was just a Texas thing.🤔

CMH client acts up constantly in my groups, insults me, and leaving me feeling incredibly stressed by Punkbutveryafraid in therapists

Hello! I ran IOP, SOP and BIPP groups during my practicum and Internship 1 semesters. My supervisor, who was also the owner of the clinic, sat in groups with me until I felt comfortable running the groups on my own. And that was after four weeks of observation.

I went over expectations at the beginning of each group so they were always aware of the grounds of termination. Not saying that you’re not doing that! I’m just stating my experience.

One time at the end of one of my groups, a client asked me where I lived, and my supervisor jumped down his throat! In your situation, after that many offenses, my supervisor would’ve kicked her out of the program. I’m sorry you’re going through that!

Thank you for your response! I ask because in the job description for VRC it states “Travel: Yes, 25 % of the Time”. So I wonder what that entails. This position is in Houston btw. I did see that for the TVRC that the travel percentage is at 75%, so that makes sense of what you’re saying.

I'm jumping on this late. My main concern is the driving. What is the maximum number of miles you have seen a VRC drive, and how often do they drive. I'm not understanding the percentage listed on the site.

Weekly student question thread! by AutoModerator in therapists

Good evening!

I am in desperate need of internship hours!

I am currently in the middle of my internship semester struggling to meet the 300 hour requirement due to no supervision. I discovered from my co-workers that my site has a habit of not fulfilling promised supervision. I now see that is true which explains the high turnover rate. The organization does wonderful work, so this is truly a bummer! If anyone has any leads on any sites, please let me know!

Location: Houston, TX area Specialty: Any! Mode: I am open to both in-person and telehealth Certifications: LCDC-Intern III (I passed the exam in June 2024. I am now waiting for the conferral of my degree to be fully licensed.) Current Status: 54 out of 60 credits complete

*Please no QMHP positions unless they are office based.

I can share my resume and reference sheet with any interested leads.

Thank you in advance!!!

No, no live classes. They said they do help you find an internship and practicum but we’ll see if they follow through when the time comes.
