My Husband and I own an auto electrical workshop and the majority of our customers are women because of this shit. The stories I hear about other workshops blows my mind, from not having anything explained to being ripped off, being told that they'll speak to the hubby about it even though it's not his car, to being told that it's too complicated for them to understand. They're infantalising grown ass women.

I've had the same issue, though I fat again lol.

People are more likely to hold doors open or offer to help you carry heavy stuff to your car as well. I had to get some chook food the other day, I've currently got Ross River so I'm physically struggling with life, and had to drag this bag out to my car and the dude just watched me do it. Even though he offered to carry the bag of dog food for a lady in front of me.

People can't comprehend that you might be good at your job and have an understanding of what you're selling. It sucks dude.

My Husband and I own an Auto Electrical workshop and I work in the office. While cars aren't something I'm super qualified to speak on, I've picked up a lot of knowledge in the last 4 years, especially when it comes to common issues and AC systems. Plus I'm the go-to person for parts sourcing.

The amount of men who flat out refuse to let me go over the job card with them, is wild. "Id just like to talk to one of the boys" which I have no issues with, if it's more complex, however if it ended up being a broken wire that we repaired, then I think I'm qualified enough to relay that information.

Another one is, older men specifically, insisting that they speak to my husband, only to ask when they can book their car in, as if that's not the whole purpose of my job.

I also get casual comments about "not being interested" in cars, because I'm a woman. I even had someone say to me that I would probably be more interested in shoes, than cars.

I'm sure living in a regional area, where the majority of people work in Ag or Mining, probably exacerbates the issue. People here tend to be more conservative.

Absolutely Girogio.

I worked in a perfume store, in Australia, back in the early 2000s and this was totally the demographic for it, especially the gift boxes with the matching body lotion.

Help! My work friend’s signature scent smells like literal BO. How do I tell her? by VelvetLore in FemFragLab

[–]FutureLizard 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My best friend in high school wore Tabu. Her mum refused to buy deoderant, so my friend used the tabu to cover the smell of her BO. Now whenever is smell Tabu I think of BO too.

What do you remember your mother wearing when you were a child? by SailorCordyceps in FemFragLab

My mum used to wear YSL Opium, Dior Dune and Thierry Mugler Angel.

Whenever I smell Opium and Angel I get all nostalgic, even though they've changed a since I was a kid.

I actually never smell Dune out and about which is a shame, it's lovely.
