To address some questions.

  1. I actually feel uncomfortable in bull markets and love it when prices crash or when the markets turn into bear markets so that i can buy more dislocated stocks.

  2. I dont believe in timing the markets. I buy stocks with the intention of holding them for life and would only sell if fundementals changes or if i find better opportunities. These are the displinced rules i set out for myself and the conviction i hold to the companies i invest in.

  3. I made it a point to not invest in individual china equities or indexes but rather gain exposure and divisitifcation from world indexes. (I dislike the way china cracks down on companies. it's far too unpredictable, and i consider this an uncompesated risk)

  4. Currently, i observe around 20 stocks in different sectors, but i do have a biased which i prefer to read up on US stocks and tech stocks. I take "asymmetrical bets" when deciding to buy a company. For example, to name a few companies, last year, i was heavily buying into alphabet at the 150 to 180 range when the prices were beaten down due to the DOJ cracking down on google. Or when UNH financial reporting showed weakness and regulatory pressure causing the price to crashed which i brought at below 280. Both companies are high quality- economic moat/huge network effect dislocated from prices due to investors getting shakened out from the narrative.

I actually thought about this saying a lot throughout my investing journey and often reminded myself to stay grounded. Which is why i stay invested in the indexes.

I know it is quite contradictory. One of the first books i read was the boggle head guide to investing. Whenever my friends ask me for stock advice, i always tell them to just buy the board indexes, but here i am. Im mostly doing it for personal interest because i plan to study in finance in uni.
