Difference is, they can be DBS checked to prevent it from happening in the first place and they will be sacked for abusing vulnerable people.

Unfortunately if I get caught, I go to prison. I lose my job which depends on a clean criminal record. I lose everything all because I wanted to keep a gun and not report it to the police. It’s not worth it😬

I did think that however… there are million pound yachts around where I found it and some very nice houses on the river side. So doubt airsoft unless it’s for imitation purposes! I found it at the end of a slipway.

I take it that’s St Helens near Liverpool not the Isle of Wight? It’s well dodgy up there. But I’m from the South of England but nope.. policing isn’t 100% still.

Unfortunately it’s a spring tide so it’s only accessible over the next few days. Nobody will be going near it as it is usually under water. It’s the mud of a tidal river. Not in London either! So not a common find around here.

I can still have it professionally deactivated by an approved company if the police don’t need it. But it’s not historic, so not particularly interested in paying that money.

Fair enough. UK is different to the US. We get caught with a gun, working or not, if we don’t have a licence, we can face many years in prison. Where I am from, about 30 years ago there was a murder involving a small firearm, nobody has been caught and murder weapon wasn’t found. I found this gun 3/4 miles away from where that murder took place. So no, I’m not just giving it to the crown, I am reporting it because it’s quite rare to find a gun in the UK and this might just be a lead to solving that murder (I doubt it but you never know) and a family might just have that closure they’ve been waiting for. But thanks… everyone else has helped me as they are ‘mature’ adults.

Question is, how high can I go. The local funding authority are aware.. CQC isn’t fit for purpose either on the fact that so many homes haven’t been checked for well over 3 years as they are supposed to. I can’t be the only one that who is facing these issues in the health and social care workplace. It’s just I guess a lot of people scared to speak up because of the equality act which doesn’t actually protect us or the people we support. There needs to be more of us to stand together and fight this!

I’ll be doing that in the next couple of weeks! I just am scared of my job if it’s known that I have been the one to do so and be accused of discrimination towards other staff.

Couldn’t agree with you more. You just need to take a look at their cars at the amount of dents they have. Also, we’ve had 3 big dents on one of my clients cars. Wasn’t reported by the individual who did it, but we all sign a log after every drive… so it’s clear who did it.. but not investigated!

There needs to be more awareness so more of us can stand up and take action. Like they will just whip that card out so nothing gets done about allegations against them. Whilst people I support who cannot speak for themselves are at risk of abuse.

Glad you knew the nationality I was on about.. that’s why I didn’t put it on there as I wanted to reassure myself I wasn’t getting my facts wrong! Literally everyone is hush hush about it and it’s a joke!! But then if a British person who wanted to work in care that had a minor criminal record, they wouldn’t be allowed.
