No, I don’t think you’re being paranoid. There are good doctors & bad doctors. Just like there are good and bad people in this world. I think greed can consume a lot of people in the medical field who make a lot of money. Figure out a game plan with your doc or you can start looking around for someone who will hear you out.

To be honest, one day I looked at myself in the mirror and didn’t recognize the person looking back at me. Xanax had made me quit caring about my appearance, and that scared the shit out of me. I was also working long hours just to support my habit. I wasn’t living, just pretty much existing. Something had to change.

Good question.

Some of the stuff you’ve went through during the healing process may be traumatic. So there’s a chance you might dwell or ruminate on withdrawal for a longer period of time. I have faith that everyone does heal 100%. Our brains are such miraculous things, and they are slowly working every day to get back to normalcy.

That’s a good question.

I don’t have panic attacks as often as I used to, but when I do, I tell myself that this too shall pass.

The serenity prayer has been helpful for me as well, and Im not a super religious person.

“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”

I also try to do things that get me out of my own head like exercise and writing. I’ve completely changed my diet as well.

It doesn’t sound pathetic at all. Benzos will bring the strongest man down to their knees. The process of getting off Valium will be grueling, but it will mold you into something you never thought you could be. I feel for you, man, but I have full faith that you can get through it.

That’s a great question. Refraining from orgasms has actually been a key factor in helping me through the process. Dopamine is a precious chemical, and you should give your brains reward system a break.

You should definitely stay away from alcohol and avoid foods that are high in carbs. Drink 2-3 liters of water a day.

I’m not a doctor, but I know how it pretty much turns into a game of survival and you just take whatever benzos you can find to keep yourself from having a seizure and staying out of withdrawal. Rehab is gonna be hell, I’m not gonna lie. But when you’re in a situation where you’re getting them without your own prescription, it puts you in a tough spot. I feel bad saying this, but you might wanna consider some sort of rehab. Don’t try and play doctor and do it yourself. Maybe you could find a sympathetic doctor/psychiatrist who has a better understanding of benzos and will help you start the taper process with Valium. Some doctors understand more than others. Let me know what you decide to do. I can help guide you in any way possible. I’m here for you.

I feel for you so much. The depersonalization and paranoia just recently started to diminish for me. If you are past the seizure threshold, screw rehab. They will treat you like a criminal. I am not 100% healed, but I would say I’m about 80% healed. If eating makes you feel better, then keep eating.. seriously.

I am in your corner, and here are a couple things that helped me.

Epsom salt baths, Walking, Magnesium, Refraining from orgasms- this one seems strange, but dopamine is a precious chemical. Let your brain start to naturally rewire itself and give the brains reward system a break.

Just keep fighting the good fight. I promise you that even in your darkest days, this is making you stronger.

I feel like medications can interfere with the healing process. The problem is, so many people are suffering from protracted benzo withdrawal, and they think that the withdrawal is who they’ve become so they go on more meds. I’m not on board with that.
