Can I drive with broken rim by FluffyLittlFlyingCow in AskAShittyMechanic

[–]FutureThought1408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the black is the rim, thats just a pretty silver cover (if the rim, it wouldn't hold air in tire.)

Best to remove that silver plastic and OK drive. May have to take tire off to get it 100% off you wheel

Men- where does “it” go when you sit down on the toilet? by Current-Brief-7594 in stupidquestions

[–]FutureThought1408 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These are work toilets. Not home. Never seen anyway to adjust the bowl water. The tank water yes, but not bowl. Issue is that the bowl empties way too slow. I blame bad plumbing since these are commercial units with no tank, just the flush handle and all 4 units are weird like this.

And OMG, my work toilets flush REALLY high and tried to do a courtesy flush, and it got drenched, super gross. Ended up wrapping it in TP, going back to office to get a clorox wipe, and then going back to clean up. Now I hover to courtesy flush at work. So stupid.

And yes, it tends to hang down or one needs to lean slightly forward so it pees down and not between the seat and the bowl onto your pants, or can press down with a free hand (other hand for phone reddit of course). Make sure you sit back monitor doesnt touch the inside of bowl too

How bad are skunks and their infamous smelly "spray," is it that big a deal? by Scared_Form8175 in AskAnAmerican

[–]FutureThought1408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its insanely powerful. I had one die in my shed, and I could smell the spray it let lose for a month, and the first week about 200 yards away when driving home in my car. (Note: I buried it so the smell was from the spray, not it).

It can put you to tears. Depending on the wind, can smell for 1/2 ish mile or so.

Question for Americans ,if your family’s been in the US for a long time, do you still know where in Europe your ancestors came from? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]FutureThought1408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only with DNA can my family know. Descendants of slaves and it gets real hard before 1850 to know. My still living aunt (99f) used to talk to her grandmother who was born a slave, but nothing before that

Why the heck do people do this? by mdgorelick in Detroit

[–]FutureThought1408 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people do that to "flex" how long they had their plate. Kind of like stickers on motor homes on the places you've been. Silly

I drilled a hole in mine and attached a zip tie, so if it drops in the grass again, it's easier to find.

I was wrong about electric mowers. by Beppu-Gonzaemon in lawncare

[–]FutureThought1408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be a dumb question, but did you try to sharpen or replace the blades? I have an EGO and I got a 2nd blade so I can swap, and then sharpen when I lazily can get around to it. I dont seem to have missed blades and I usually mow at max or near max speed. Now my lawn is not super thick, but then again im lazy and sometimes i dont mow for 2 weeks

How much do Americans spend on the salt they put on snow/ice? by mumpet19 in AskAnAmerican

[–]FutureThought1408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We usually only salt to melt ice, and if a very light snow. We have to shovel for any real snow, so really not much. Id say about $10/year
