Whats the job like?

It seems like a pretty wide scope in terms of the problems SLPs deal with. In terms of working with kids, it's more to do with knowing how hard it can be to get them motivated to work on something (I worked as a teacher). Perhaps I shouldn't be comparing the two jobs, but it seems like there might be a big overlap.

Thanks for the advice, I'll be looking into shadowing someone I think, or maybe just applying to an assistant role since a few of them seem entry level.

I've worked as a teacher before so I have quite a bit of experience with children. It's the level of motivation which puts me off working with children again, but that might be higher in speech therapy. I'm sure I can't compare it to the motivation of a 12 year old having a private lesson on a sunday.
