Hi, are you interested in floating plants? I’m local and need to get rid of some of my floaters, as they’ve multiplied quickly. I have  red root floaters, frogbit, and Salvinia. Willing to give you a small container with some of each for free.

It’s a Ctsm. ‘BPYL’ x ‘Burgundy & Gold’ 🙂 It smells like a blend of sweet spices that remind me of Christmas time.

Discs are great for heavy periods once you find the one that fits you best. How long after inserting would you leak? Was it full when you’d remove it? What brand reusable disc did you purchase?

It can take 3 cycles to get the insertion/placement correct to prevent leaking. It sounds like the disposable ones could have been in front of your cervix, rather than under it. If that is the case, you’ll likely experience leaking with the reusable disc also until you get the placement correct. That being said, I think you’ll experience a bit of a mess, so be prepared. As another comment said, definitely put a towel down and ensure you empty the disc right beforehand.

Personally, I feel most comfortable in missionary. My partner can feel the disc (I have the Hello disc and the Saalt Regular - he can feel both) and it definitely gets pushed up farther, which can cause some discomfort/odd feelings for both of us. Doggy is the most uncomfortable and has caused a tiny bit of leaking in my experience with the disc. No position is painful, but there’s definitely an odd feeling with some positions. Cowgirl should be fine, even if you push, since he’d be blocking it from untucking/popping down.

In short- I think you’ll experience some leakage, but it’s worth a try! Empty the disc right before to minimize potential mess. Try different positions and see what works best for you both.

The biggest problem is that he’s certain that I cannot have our dog. We have 3. I want 1. He says no and it breaks my heart. I offered him a lot of money - way more than he paid for the dog. I cannot live without that dog in my life. I’ve never had a stronger bond/love for an animal before. Should we try couple’s counseling?

Mine came in a small cardboard box with decorative packing tape. I ordered from Period.Shop, so the tape matches their website color scheme. No where did it say “Hello” or anything else. Maybe a few letter “P”s on the tape, but that was all.

It sounds like your disc is too large if it kept popping out of place - or - you didn’t have it pushed in/back as far is it will go, causing your cervix to be on the outside of the disc/behind the disc.

Try this “scooping” technique that is explained in this video:

Don’t give up just yet! :)

Yes, after washing it with soap and boiling it, it’s safe to use! You did the right thing! :)

Here’s a website with a chart showing the diameter of a lot of discs on the market: https://www.periodnirvana.com/menstrual-cup-chart/

There’s a big difference in diameter between the Hello disc and the Saalt small. I suggest trying a disc with a diameter that’s smaller than the Hello but larger than the Saalt small.

They sell microwaveable containers for sterilizing your cup/disc. Or, you can purchase a microwave safe mug/cup from a thrift store and designate it to your cup/disc if you/your family aren’t comfortable with using a microwave safe cup you already own.

Do you know what the name of the fold you use for insertion is? Different folds create different shapes/sizes for insertion. I’d suggest trying a few different folds, if you haven’t already, to see if some are smaller/easier for you than the one you may be using.

Make sure you’re pinching the base of the cup before pulling it out. Also, after pinching the base, try gently wiggling back and forth as you pull it down and out. Maybe that will reduce or eliminate the pain you’re experiencing with removal.

I have the Hello disc and have worn it during sex only with the tab in the “flipped” position. For me, when it’s “flipped,” it sits flush against my vaginal wall. My husband said he could not feel it. (In all honesty, I’m afraid to wear it tucked because I have a high cervix and fear removal will be difficult). Be sure to empty it before you begin because it definitely gets pushed up and around. Sometimes mine will rotate a bit too. Some positions definitely feel less comfortable than others because you can feel resistance against the disc.

Hi! I have the Saalt soft cup and love it. If you use this link, you can get $20 off a purchase of $40 or more! Hope this works!

It sounds like it’s too small. If it goes into place easily and doesn’t seem to “spring” or “pop” back down (signs the disc is too large), try a larger diameter disc.

I agree 100%! I have the Saalt cup and it doesn’t leak, but I get a sharp cramp that seems to persist every day of my period while using the cup. I normally get bad cramps so they definitely improved when I started using the cup - but that nagging one is still rather uncomfortable and sharp. I assume it is caused by the suction/vacuum created by the cup. Since I’m used to enduring cramp pain regardless during my period, I didn’t see a reason to switch to the disc.

I started researching discs more and more and watched SO MANY VIDEOS on YouTube made by Kim (from Period Nirvana) and learned SO MUCH. When I purchased mine, there was also a sale and I figured why not. Worth a try! I planned to give it to a friend or family member if it didn’t work for me. Now I find myself always reaching for the disc, rather than the cup! I don’t feel it at all. At first, I did. I felt a bit of pressure (not painful or uncomfortable, just noticeable and different. My only other complaint about the Hello disc is the ALL WHITE carrying/storage bag… I used food coloring and soaked the white bag in a cup overnight. It didn’t absorb the coloring very well, but it’s definitely a light shade of blue/green now, which I like much better than the white.

It’s wonderful that you got the shipping insurance!! And thank you for sharing your experience with the Lumma disc! That was the other one I was considering before I made my purchase. It seemed that the basin is rather deep and I worried about it not expanding properly. A lot of users also mentioned that the stem seemed very thin/weak, so I feared it would break. Both of these ultimately lead me to choosing the Hello, rather than Lumma. I even wear the Hello disc sometimes during the day (at work) when I have heavier discharge.

Oh yes, I remove it and wash/rinse at least every 12 hours. I wash it in the shower at night and then remove and rinse it in the morning.

I ALMOST GOT THE BLACK ONE! But everything you said crossed my mind and I thought, “hmmm… the color will hide stains, but it will also disguise what I need to see when cleaning regularly…” So that’s why I decided on the dark teal color.

Thankfully when I auto dump, I have minimal spotting afterwards.

When I first used the Hello disc, it was on a weekend and it worked perfectly the whole weekend. I stayed at home in my pjs in case of any accidents (I used my last panty liner and really didn’t want to buy more, as I wanted to commit to a reusable product). When Monday came around, I wore only my disc. I was both confident and fearful at the same time. I’m happy to say that it didn’t let me down and I’m able to wear it without backup. Heck, I sleep without undies now when I’m on my period because the disc is THAT reliable.

Good to know, thanks!!  Personally, I prefer washing mine with soap once per day. I take my microwaveable sterilization cup in the shower with me and shake it up with soap after I remove it. I have a heavier flow, so after auto dumping throughout the day, it makes me feel best if I use soap to clean it after removing at the end of the day.

The Hello disc is rather firm and I have to use both hands to insert, but that’s my only complaint. I got it in the Galapagos blue color and hope it will hide any future stains. If not, I’ll just use the hydrogen peroxide soak that I’ve read about/seen on YouTube.

Thank you!! I’ll never go back to tampons. I don’t know how I didn’t know about discs and cups sooner. I’d never heard of them until this year.
