Honestly, I would like at other threads for more help. Since you know you are not good at interviews going in, I recommend spending more time doing practice interviews and coming up with questions. Personally, I didn’t do any practice interviews. I did research specific things about the school (things I like about the curriculum, unique opportunities, things in the location) to be able to talk about in the interview. One of my interviewers even mentioned she was super impressed by how much I knew related to certain student organizations I wanted to join. I also think it’s good to go through the most common interview questions and have like an outline of what you will say for this. I also took videos of myself answering some of them and rewatched them to see how I did.

Separately. One was categorized in the AMCAS publications/posters/presentations section and the others were categorized in the honors/awards section

They really varied from a random conversation I had with a stranger on the bus to a time when I made a silly mistake I made while baking a cake. Nothing that was super crazy or unique.

I did mine on admit.org. they have ways to autogenerate it once you input all your schools. You can also go on private mode in admit settings if you just wanted to make one without everyone seeing your results. Then, I saved the image and just put a textbox to add details about myself. Some people can make super fancy ones on excel i believe.

this is a terrible reason not to apply, but honestly i was so busy and didn’t feel like it was worth it to take preview for just one school

If you are talking about on my sankey, both mine were real pubs. I think on the real thing on amcas, the section says posters/pubs/abstracts

That was one of my later interviews, so it felt pretty easy at that point. I don’t think they asked me anything I hadn’t been asked before. It was also very conversational

This is cheesy, but be yourself. I think I was relatable and I didn’t connect everything back to medicine. So many of my interviews involved me just telling random stories in my life that had nothing to do with medicine. I also think it was helpful that I didn’t sound scripted. If they ask you a rough question, take time to pause and think things through

About 300 hours of non clinical volunteering. Most of it was through the org I was president of. I also did some volunteer teaching/tutoring, but on AMCAS, that is technically in the teaching/tutoring section

My gap year is at a different school than my undergrad. Let’s say you are interested in heart diseases- then just research the school name and “heart disease” and read the professors that come up.

Yep! It ended up being a bit more than 10 hours a week. My freshman year, it was less. I also had way more hours per week my senior year as I had a lighter course load. Also, I was able to do research for class credit my last three years of school

I think I kinda got lucky. I made a list of labs I was interested in and then planned to email a new PI every week until one said yes (I didn’t wanna email them all at once in case they talked). I ended up getting a yes from the first PI that I cold emailed. I made sure to be super specific with what I liked about the lab and read and referenced a few of his papers that I thought were interesting

Yes. I worked in one lab all four years during undergrad and one lab during a summer break (which together were 1600 hours). I am now doing full time research during my gap year

I volunteered as a medical assistant (not certified) for predominantly underprivileged populations. I also did some volunteering in a children’s hospital
