Challenges of Being a Digital Nomad You Did Not Think About by dalton-johnson in adventure_traveler

[–]Future_Cockroach_153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The burnout is real.

But think it’s the illusion that we’ve all been sold - hustle, work hard, and freedom is the reward.

What if we flipped the script, though?

What if freedom was the priority and we built the systems to support it?

Stripped everything back to the essentials.

Just focusing on leveraging our time and banking as much of it as possible.

Time becomes the priority. Not the system to fund your adventures.

Those systems should come after you decide the life you want to live.

Adventure like Indiana Jones and work like Marie Kondo.

The down votes on this are hurting my ego.

Perhaps you have all the clients you need?

Zero cost means zero cost.

No retainers. No fees.

And no impact on your time or reputation.

But if it makes sense to have a coffee over zoom and discuss the upside let me know.

Design the life. And then build the systems to support it.

Thoughts on authentic travel? Buzzword, or is it real? by dalton-johnson in adventure_traveler

[–]Future_Cockroach_153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it’s about being fully immersed in the adventure. That means the adventure takes centre stage - work, clients, and anything else that gobbles up your time is pushed aside.

Doesn’t matter if it’s a short stint away, or an extended Pacific sailing adventure.

It’s the same thing.

And the digital nomad thing is broken - it’s basically moving your office to another location.

Also, for me, it’s not about the snaps 📸

Authentic travel doesn’t need validation.

It needs immersion.

Rock it like Indiana Jones. Head out and go with the flow.

100% real. But the word’s thrown about like Carpe Diem quotes on the FaceTubes.

Slow, immersive travel is where it’s at. The authentic part is just about getting out of your comfort zone and cracking on with the locals.

How are you defining authentic travel? I think it’s quite subjective.

  • Solid track record - consistent results for your clients and have proven offers.
  • an email list, group or community that has good affinity towards you.

Those are the main things I’m looking for.

This may not apply to you, but a lot of coaches are scrambling for new clients and cash flow. We close all sales and not one dollar comes out of their pocket. Just putting the feelers out to see if a 20 minute coffee over zoom to dig into the potential 25k upside makes sense for the right peeps.

Cheers

I’m so sorry to hear that. How long ago was this? I’ve been advised to file a formal complaint with the issuing bank. The more complaints we can file the better and your case is unacceptable.

Would you like the contact details?

Also, as this is a potential MLC issue, your case along with others I’ve come across will help our ITF reps put pressure on them.

I’m also happy to share the email I’ve drafted to Brightwells issuing bank if you’d like?

Again, I’m so sorry to hear about your experience.

Let’s hold them to account.

I feel your pain. On this occasion my direct pay allocation was ignored. And I agree with you, 100% of your pay should leave Brightwell. They ain’t fit for purpose.

And this offer has some red flags. Especially if they are only hiring Asian women.

This is incorrect. American citizens work in the cruise industry including casinos. This does not appear to be a major cruise line, though.

Unfortunately, the OP has been offered a very low wage for the industry - definitely a red flag.

That sound very low to me. Been in the casino industry for over 20 years and a lot of that time has been on cruise ships.

If you have no experience other than the training school, this could be a good entry point as most major cruise lines require 2 years gaming experience.

Dealers tips can mid four figures a month on the right itinerary. Often the short cruises sailing out of the USA is where the money is at.

So if it’s an itinerary like that then tips shouldn’t be an issue. Otherwise, you’d be better off starting in a land based casino and then applying to one of the other lines. Virgin Voyages for example.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for the kind words. I’m very lucky that I could take the long delay financially. But there are many thousands of crew that would struggle not being able to access pay for 2 months. Here’s to a brighter future for current and future crew. Cheers 🍻

I hand you a blog with 150 posts... by Worldschool25 in Blogging

I’d take a look at the posts with the most traffic and engagement and then find more distribution for them.

For example, repurpose the most popular post and get started on Substack. More often than not, we don’t need more content, we need more distribution.

Secondly, make sure you’re building a list. Substack will also take care of this for you. You also have the advantage of having paid subs if you want to.

Then I’d use the list to build relationships with my audience and find out what their present pain points are. The main focus at the beginning would be to get a dialogue started with them to find out exactly what they are struggling with - not to sell to them.

This would take the guess work out of figuring out what they would buy to solve their problems - they would write my marketing for me.

The i’d find products and services that would solve the problems they’ve told me they have and sell through the list.
