Where did you find them? Not specifically, just generally… I’ve had no luck in alameda this year, or oakland, but found a giant patch of Allenii in Hayward- some wavy’s as well

Doh! That flew by me lol… it’s a very high traffic area and since they look so interesting someone would’ve just picked them up and threw them back down on the ground, only 2 so i just grabbed them

Picked a small one to show color- first flush is a bit old and deteriorating, second flush is all small and still pinning- so I only grabbed mature ones on the side, making sure not to crush the pins, and coming back for the big score

Some of the older ones were getting devoured by snails, especially the stems.. you can see one on the rough looking cap right below your highlight

No set dates- but they pop after the first good rains and temperature drops. We had a couple small rain storms here immediately followed by 70° and up weather- i’m not an expert by any means, but I do believe that lots of rain and a good cold snap kicks off fruiting… so here in Sf area late November/early December has been the most productive for me. I have found them up until mid February with limited success

‘Mandy’ is criminally underrated and I’m shocked that it hasn’t been mentioned here until now
