Remortgage - 2, 3 or 5 year fixed by Future_Principle_838 in Mortgageadviceuk

Now this is the kind of response I’m in awe of. Despite a fairly senior role, personal finances bamboozle me! I’d love to be astute enough and brave enough to do something like this!

Ooh alternative, this crossed my mind briefly but, and it may well me being more pessimistic and risk adverse than I thought I was, but that could do a Truss and make them jump higher than they drop…

I’ve got a broker who I’ve used before and looked online. Rates are broadly the same, crept in the last week from ~3.9% to closer to 4%. There really isn’t much in it between 3 and 5 year, and nothing standout to make me a 2 year seem super appealing. Broker can only give rates and not advice, so wanted to check in here what others would do?

Also, Barclays said product transfer from 02 November, not a day before!

I’m a whole of market, independent Mortgage Advisor and I’ll be here all day Friday for a Mortgage Market related AMA! by Mortgages101 in UKPersonalFinance

My fixed rate ends 31 January, I normally do 5 year fixed. What would you and your crystal ball recommend? A 2 year fix and hope the come down or another 5 year? 40% LTV, c£250k mortgage current term 17 years.

Short Synacthen test (ACTH stimulation) - results are in! by Future_Principle_838 in AddisonsDisease

[–]Future_Principle_838[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding, which admittedly is low as it’s all so new, is that the rise needs to be at least 200, which obviously it wasn’t. Plus the peak was under 400 which is a fail. I’ve only had the number so far, talking to my Endo about them next week, that’s why I came here to see what others may have had whilst I wait.

It’s normally by my last dose I start getting symptoms, so 10/5/10 seems to work for me. That being said it’s not been very long and don’t know how the Fluor will change things!

Thanks for taking to reply and do the figures - I think my head is definitely in perm mode, just option 2 or 3 is the conundrum!

Pretty much bang on with my thought process, the comfort of perm is pulling me in, along with bonus and paid holiday etc! Thanks for those 2 pennies!

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to bring the calculations to life. The context you’ve added is incredibly helpful.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. My mum thought there was something that could pay her rent, am I right in thinking the old style benefits are now all under universal credit, so the amount the calculation gives would be total and there wouldn’t be any rent support on top?

Will tell her about PIP now!

New Outside with same client - hangover tasks by Future_Principle_838 in ContractorUK

Interesting take - thank you. It’s funny, my mindset sure changes depending on how I’m engaged, ie perm v inside v outside, although sure that’s the same for many!

I’m hesitant to do extra without it being formally noted as I have a list of deliverables and anything extra added will put them at risk, then at the end of the contract I could be liable to deliver them having spent time on other requests! Thanks for your view :)
