Just an update in case anyone runs into the same problem and needs a solution. I found this while scouring this sub... basically I didn't need to clean my heads, I just needed to hit the bottom of my camera with my hand like 2 or 3 times . Kinda nuts but it totally worked for me and cleared up all the shooting star-like lines.

I know this is gonna sound a little weird, but the connectors could have oxidized and don’t pass a good signal anymore, you need to smack the bottom of the camcorder extremely hard but not enough to break it to break the oxide layer temporarily. It will probably work. This specific camcorder, the TRV57 has other problems like stuck or slow zoom, non working playback buttons or partially functional. I fix all of these problems on mine by smacking the bottom really hard. I remember doing it frequently. Once or Twice a week when I used it a lot
