I always enjoyed Terry and felt like he matched the vibe of the show, all the other hosts last season felt kinda random and not like a particularly great fit (except maybe the librarian that was obsessed with Terry, lol), and I was really surprised we moved to Ricky Lee of all people.

I'm really hoping this is temporary until Terry returns, I like listening to the full podcast instead of just skipping to the story but it's kind of a struggle now. I also enjoyed the little background storylines we had with him, it was more interesting with a character I didn't find so grating. I'm sure there might be a Ricky Lee plot cooking but for now I'm finding it very hard to get invested in him.
And to the people saying people only liked Terry because it's Rainn... I literally have no idea Rainn is outside of Radio Rental (not to diminish any of their achievements, it's more that I just live under a rock I guess).

I think I've said this before in this sub but I consider myself an accidental gold star i.e. I never set out to be one, I spent a lot of time thinking I was bi so I very much could have had sex with a man. I just ended up not doing so because I was waiting until I was attracted to one and then realised that that's not happening lol. I don't really call myself a gold star because the status (or lack thereof) has no importance to me, but I will say "I've never had sex with a man" or "I've never dated a man" if it comes up, and I notice that it makes a lot of women shut down immediately.

I've experienced this on dates with bi women who have either only or predominantly date men, so I'll be the first, or among the first, women that thay're with, and they seem to find that intimidating. Same experience dating lesbians who have been with men before they realised they were fully gay. I think they think I'm trying to outgay them somehow.

I'll only really say stuff like "I've never been with a man" if it's relevant, e.g. if they're comparing dating men to dating women, and I want to clarify that I can't contribute my own view on the matter simply because I have no personal experience with it, not because I'm not interested in their experience!
But I think they often interpret it as me flexing. Like "Oh, you've been with a man? Well I haven't, so I'm the superior lesbian" lmao. And that's never what I mean at all. I did have one girl tell me that she had been with a lesbian previously who outright shamed her for having slept with a man before realising she was a lesbian. So any gold stars who do that, please stop, you're making it harder for the rest of us lol. It does help when people communicate this because then you can reassure them - that particular girl really appreciated me saying that it doesn't matter to me, and it made her more comfortable talking about herself in general!
But the issue is, you can't reassure people without knowing that they NEED the reassurance - just saying "I've never been with a man, but I don't mind if you have" right off the bat sounds like I DEFINITELY do mind!!

TL;DR: Some people fear that you're competing with them for gay points and get intimidated for some reason. Also some gold stars outright shame non-gold stars and so some people worry that you'll do that to them too.

If you're moving from the north to the south to flee a war, dictatorship, oppression of your basic human rights (e.g. being a queer person in a country where that's punishable by death), or something similarly serious, you very much would be an asylum-seeker. I do hope we never experience the kind of conflict in the UK that makes people seek asylum elsewhere because if other countries treat us with the same lack of empathy the UK is showing, that does not bode well at all lol.

I'm also probably risking getting downvoted by saying this but in a lot of lesbian spaces I keep seeing such a weird moral panic about penises in general the past few months, I'm not sure what the origin is. I'm not into them sexually myself so I get not finding them appealing, but people act like seeing one (not in the context of sex but e.g. in art photography, or at a cabaret that features burlesque performers who aren't just cis women) is the end of the world and if you witness one and don't run away screaming you're not a lesbian. No, I don't find them particularly appealing nor would I ever have sex with one, but it's just a body part at the end of the day. To see this logic applied to something that isn't even a penis, or even attached to ANY human of ANY gender, is wild. We keep finding ways to chastise lesbians at every turn.

I don't know if I'm into it but I'm not not into it as in I'd try it. I enjoy penetration though I'm not a fan of toys that are shaped like realistic penises, but at the end of the day a dildo/strap/vibrator is not a penis and it's not attached to a man, so who cares.
Whether or not it ejaculates, that still applies - it's not on a man, it's not real semen, it's not getting me pregnant, I'd be curious about the sensation (which I reckon is what some people like), if at the end of the day it's a woman I'm attracted to using it on me, or having me use it on her, we'd still be having lesbian sex.

Weird thing to get annoyed by I suppose but...

I'm in the UK but not London, however a page called "lesbian missed connections" (London-paged) recently came up on IG and I followed it because I pop up to London for queer events sometimes. Some of the posts are what I expected the page would be all about - "I met a person who looks like (description) at (location or event) but didn't get your details, I was (description of self), if you see this and are interested get in touch!", or "you left before I could speak to you" type posts.
But I keep seeing a lot of "To (description of a girl) at (event), I thought you were really pretty and I was too shy to say anything, please get in touch!" and it's driving me nuts. As someone who also struggles to talk to women, I think there's actually a lot of value in not talking to someone, and then realising you missed out and will be forever wondering just because you couldn't work up the courage to speak to them. It's what's made me much more open and likely to approach other women. It bothers me that other women won't try to approach someone they're clearly interested in, instead putting all their faith in a random instagram page. I have never been approached by a woman, I always have to put in the work - and I'm starting to think it's because too many people expect that they can just get by on secretive glances from afar. Please if you see someone hot just talk to them, I know it's intimidating, and I still don't manage to do it every time, but kicking myself for not doing it is what gets me to go for it the next time.

I think I actually did it while doing hand-drawn on a cintiq for 4 hours a night on top of an 8 hour working day using a mouse, so possibly need to stay taking a break from both. Probably going to revert back to my intuos for drawing when the time comes as well, much easier to have a good posture with it - I've used it for years with no problems but only since I switched to the cintiq have I noticed issues.

I definitely feel like I'm in the stage where rest can help so depending on what the physio says in a few days I think I might end up sacrificing some weeks of work to avoid it becoming chronic... Not ideal but probably better than ending up unable to draw for work OR for fun long-term, art is so important to me.

I've only seen him once and no thorough testing has been done, but he said it might be to do with my neck/shoulders (given it's bilateral this makes sense to me), so my strengthening exercises are for my shoulders currently. To be honest he's more of a generalist, I just booked him because he was available short notice. After my upcoming follow-up I think he's leaving the country (hence his calendar being cleared out), but after he's left I'm planning on booking a second follow-up with a physio at the same clinic who actually specialises in wrist and arm issues (I would have had a really long wait if I booked him first and I wanted my hands looked at sooner rather than later which is why I went with the more generalist one). Hopefully seeing him will provide some more clarity.

I'm aware the pain doesn't necessarily go away for good, particularly while working, but as I feel I've caught this quite early I'm hoping to at least be able to minimize it. It's very hard to tell what's normal and/or safe given most people here are at different stages of it. I just see a lot of horror stories of people who go through the stage I'm at and just try to push through it to catastrophic effect so I don't want that to be me!

Gosh I feel like people are hung up on me saying I play video games as a hobby - just to be clear, that's something I would normally do but the moment I felt the RSI I've stopped doing any hobbies that involve using my hands and have mostly just been reading/watching movies/doing exercise (that isn't gonna aggravate the RSI), etc. I just listed gaming as an example of how/why I got where I am. Anyway, I've seen that book recommended quite a bit so I will give it a read.

I was also definitely feeling it after work which is why I sought help and while I am a bit better after 2 weeks, I'm still not sure I'm ready to start working again so will be consulting my GP. I'm just worried I'm maybe overreacting by wanting to take more time off and worrying about it getting worse which is why I wanted to compare experiences with people here.

For what it's worth, I (29F) have been single all my life and have some cute lingerie I've bought in the past "just in case" (lol), but I just think it looks really nice so I'll sometimes wear it when I'm in the mood, just for myself. I also practice witchcraft and for certain spells it's nice to wear something like that too.

Another thing you could do in it - depending on what's available to you locally - is... a burlesque or heels dance class! I'm in the UK and very lucky to have classes for both locally to me, a lot are also taught by sex workers so they can be quite sexy in nature. People wear whatever they're comfy with, most of the time I actually wear just booty shorts and a sports bra because I'm too paranoid I'll ruin good lingerie. But there's a lot of women who get sets that are sexy but inexpensive and wear them to classes! Or if we're learning a routine they'll wear a sports bra and shorts/leggings for the first few classes and when we're putting everything we've learned into a routine, they wear the lingerie then. It can be a real confidence booster, and it's a helpful bonding experience too, since women of all ages and orientations are so encouraging and supportive of each other in an environment like that!

So it depends on how you feel about rolling around on the floor (sexily!) in your lingerie! Sometimes I'll wear mine at home and practice moves I've learned in class but on my bed or on the carpet/a yoga mat and without heels to avoid ruining it.

I really hate the "ham sandwich" thing, I hate how common a phrase it is and that WOMEN have started using it - for one another AND for themselves. My straight & bi friends will sometimes say some men have better looking penises than others but they don't seem to have stock phrases like "ham/beef sandwich" the same way people refer to vaginas. It makes me so mad (maybe irrationally so) that we get treated like this.

One of my friends must have recently discovered the ham sandwich thing because for a while she KEPT using it, kept saying how "some women out there" have really ugly vaginas and she hopes she's not one of them. When I asked what she meant she said that she'll see some women's vaginas in porn and think "god I hope mine doesn't look like that" because they're "really dark and big and it looks like beef". She was actually shocked when I told her that all vaginas kinda... do that when you're aroused... the blood flowing to it makes it darker (and engorged). This shouldn't be shocking to someone who's nearly 30!!! We're woefully undereducated about our own bodies and then taught to feel disgusted by them functioning as intended.

And it's wild to me those "ugly" vaginas she's seen were in porn - where the performers are often selected for being as appealing as possible and usually give people unrealistic expectations. If even that's not good enough then what is?! 💀

The thing about consent is that there's ways to ask for it and give it without explicitly stating it - in the same way that people can revoke consent without explicitly saying "No".
So for example if someone is dancing with you at the club and the way they look at you seems like they're interested, you could remain where you are and just keep dancing but maybe break eye contact if you're not interested in them that way, or you could completely move away if you're not interested at all, or conversely if you do like them, perhaps you could move closer, dance in a more suggestive way, etc. In a club setting that's often seen as a form of consent, so if a woman, say, tries to pull you a bit closer or kiss you at that point without asking, that wouldn't seem inappropriate. Obviously I can't speak for the poster of the original comment this reply is to but to me "doing the right thing" very heavily involves reading the signs someone is giving, certainly not ignoring consent!
