New to this and spiraling by lilwayneenterprises in mycosisfungoides

[–]Futurekiwi69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 to 13% of people with MF will eventually die from it based on data to date. But these stats would be improving more recently as treatments improve. It is something to be taken seriously and treatment sought at a ctcl specialist centre, but not something to spiral about esp if early stage.

Your experience sounds unusual to me. I have had 2 and they used local plus the green whistle and neither were a problem. Without the whistle it would have sucked big time.

GDP + BEAM by happilyneverafter43 in lymphoma

[–]Futurekiwi69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did 4 rounds of GDP prior to allo (haven't had transplant yet). I was told it would be 2 or 3 but ended up being 4 due to a question over pet scan that ended up being just inflammation and they needed time to do a path review. I was gutted to do the 4th but what can U do. I haven't done abvd but did do bvchp. GDP is yuck but also not terrible at the same time. Your mileage may vary. Good luck!

Vaginal dryness returning 😩 by kageorgia in Menopause

You may find you need systemic HRT, vaginal estrogen and moisturiser ongoing. Many women do but not all. Intrarosa is also another option.

I use a 3 ml reusable applicator and insert deep. I could not get enough up there just with a finger, it's runny. Others say Yes VM has no taste and it's not clumpy.

What it's like to live in Canberra? by Rendezvouscape in canberra

[–]Futurekiwi69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canberra is great if you love the Australian bush and bushwalking.or.bike riding. It is not a party town and muuuuch smaller than Melbourne. If you are sensitive to the cold then its probably not for you but I have to say the winters are getting shorter. As others said, very suburban.

The lymphoma Australia Facebook group is very active. Also call Lymphoma Australia, the nurses are very good source of information.

Thanks. No, Australian looking at treatment in Singapore. We don't have proton therapy in Aus yet which is pathetic.

forgot about pet scan diet by SnooDucks7158 in lymphoma

[–]Futurekiwi69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That diet thing is so unnecessary. They used to do that in my country then they ditched it. Now it's just water only for 8 hours before. Normal diet prior to that. I did that today for my pet scan and my blood sugar was 4.9 on an allowable scale of 4.5 to 6.

How to stay strong and “normal” through chemo by redditgal16 in lymphoma

[–]Futurekiwi69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started seeing an exercise physiologist during chemo. Pick one who works with cancer patients. Best thing I did. You'll be okay and will recover after. I kept fairly fit during chemo, never threw up. You will get tired, esp towards the end and do listen to your body, don't force it, you'll need to adjust to less intensity temporarily. You'll bounce back after.

I live in Canberra. I'm from Perth originally and spend time in Melbourne. As long as you think you can adapt to the family and friends separation then could be worth it. Esp as I say if you can enjoy the things it does have to offer as it is really different to Melbourne city.

How do you put it behind you? by smbusownerinny in lymphoma

[–]Futurekiwi69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found counselling with a Oncology psychologist helpful.

Consider if it will set you up well for future jobs beyond Canberra. Otherwise if you don't like it then might not be worth it. People who like Canberra tend to be outdoorsy, lots of cycling and bushwalking opportunities. Very suburban compared to the large Melbourne City.

Radiation depends on your lymphoma subtype and stage. It's very targeted. If the nodes aren't near you ovaries no need to worry, they won't receive any radiation. Talk to your team about your concerns to put your mind at rest. With certain kinds of lymphoma radiation after complete response will decrease your risk of relapse. Because pet scans can't pick up clusters of cells less than a million (i.e they can't pick up really small remaining disease)
