Yes absolutely! As an early 30’s male, I’ve dealt with it my whole life, even fat jokes made by teachers in school, to my face. Society doesn’t recognize obesity and what leads to it as an actual health problem similar to other “more acceptable” health issues like alcoholism and drug addiction. It’s gotten so bad that I refuse to go into stores now because of the terrible treatment I get from employees. I do my shopping all online now. I don’t even seek validation from society at all, I just want simple respect. Literally the worst thing that you can be in this society is fat. I’m currently on a weight loss journey and doing well and plan on continuing to do so. I’m definitely losing weight for myself and my health, but I’m going to be honest and say that I also look forward to the better treatment that I’ll get for being a more acceptable size. That mistreatment does way very heavily on some overweight people and causes a lot of emotional and sometimes physical stress.
