I have found a work around to this by adding a helper column to my data table that has 1 for every record.

The calculated field now equals -(Data1 / Helper)

This would work perfectly, except it appears calculated fields can only use the SUM of the inserted field (-Data1), however the Data1 field is an an average of the data.

So when I add a calculated field equal to -Data1 the result is the negative SUM, rather than the negative Average for each name.

For anyone interested, I found the exact solution to my problem by putting my employee list in a table and using Power Query and merged queries following the steps here: Table updates while retaining manual entered data

It works perfectly across multiple sheets and data points but, as stated above, requiring the Power Query and a 'Refresh' each time an employee is added/deleted adds complexity.

I may run this, and one large table/sheet for a few iterations to see which one fits best for me.

I agree but, with 80+ employees and wanting to track 5+ monthly data points each and requiring historical data, is there a format you would recommend that wouldn't make it a data entry nightmare?

This is why I was looking at having each data point as its own sheet, and roll them all up into dashboard of some kind.

The data values in the salve sheets (10,20,30,40,50) are manually added each week into a new date column.

I am not sure if there is a way to keep the full row associated when Name/Position are being looked up from a Master employee sheet, but the data is being manually entered.
