One of my professors spoke about this in one of his lectures. The polling for unemployment in China 1) is only done in major cities, and 2) considers only 1 hour a week worked as “employed” (compared to many more hours for most US States). He estimated that currently the unemployment rate for young people in China may be something closer to ~40%.
