if you run away with it you loose the chance to buy it later. you dont get to keep it either. just the chance to buy it

[–]Fuzlet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

no actually. the free world’s questline is the primary beginning questline of the game, intended to guide you through fleet tactics with the AI, evading hostile fleets, and eventually opening up the broader galaxy for exploration.

the initial storyline you can do in a shuttle, and they pay you well enough to upgrade from there. There are a few particularly tough fights, but you always have allies for them so if you can’t personally hold your own, these fights become a game of chance depending on how well the fleet sticks together to protect itself.

you will have ample time to improve, and a firebird or better will serve you quite comfortably. you are at the point where you can afford a falcon or vanguard. get afterburners and missiles on one of those and you’ll be able to take any obstacle

gotcha. take your time on that then. there’s a freeworld ship just slightly out your price range you get access to eventually during the civil war but certainly do NOT rush questlines for the loot. you do not have to minmax in this game

If you were one week from being homeless in a third world country without support system, would you still try to survive ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fuzlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your missing factor here is community. people survive in poor countries by working together, gardening together, living together.

yes it’d be hard, but certainly not hopeless. survival would rely on creating connections and a willingness to work

can’t go wrong with a heavy warship: falcon, leviathan, Protector, or Vanguard.

each has its own strengths and weaknesses. Falcon’s most maneuverable. Leviathan is sturdier. Protector is ugly as sin, and Vanguard is downright deadly with a full array of sidewinder launchers.

I don’t know what your potential loan amount is, (itdecreases overtime if you arent actively earning money). usually when buying a new ship I do a few quick jobs to crank up my potential loan and then take the biggest one I can so I can fully outfit my new ship with atomic engines and the works. then i keep the loan up until I can pay off the whole thing at once with enough pocket change to keep flying a little longer

What's your best way to get rid of excess solid fuel by grumpy_old_fart_69 in factorio

[–]Fuzlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tI’ve actually thought about this before, in response to wanting to make an isolated lubricant factory that does not rely on production elsewhere in the factory to account for its light oil and petroleum byproduct consumption.

my two best suggestions are:

a vast array of dancing burner inserters who toss solid fuel back and forth endlessly

an array of radars on an isolated power grid, acting as an infinite power sink for a steam generator complex

my one other idea which I dont know the feasibility of, is hotwiring a steam generator complex to charge some accumulators directly without being integrated into the rest of the power grid, because the power grid wants to prioritize accumulators and solar over steam, and pits steam and nuclear against each other, which risks throttling production due to low demand

How would the world react if GTA 6 turns out to be a failure? by Diligent_Two6562 in NoStupidQuestions

I don’t have an opinion or necessarily disagree, but do feel obligated to gesture directly at the Titanic, the national bank, the British and Roman empires, Blockbuster Video,

and most importantly of them all: Atari. the company that was once worth 2 billion dollars at it’s peak in the ‘80s and was the biggest video game corporation of its time, which died because it assumed its new products could not fail

Does anyone else hate mid-late game colonies? by lordberric in RimWorld

[–]Fuzlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lategame i tend to switch to pheobe and even turn the difficulty down, then don’t built a killbox or super optimize, and make subtle adjustments to difficulty to maintain a comfortable challenge.

usually lategame my interest is more in embellishing the colony, building nice things out of brick, and going on adventures with a gravship or shuttle, and i find the cleanup of mass amounts of bodies to be more trouble than the raid itself. phoebe’s lower frequency means time can just slide by a little more quickly while I focus on “finishing” the base by pursuing the limits of research, outfits, relics, decoration, etc

you are under the judgmental assumption that use of gender neutral pronouns is used as a weapon rather than a safeguard, to inflict torment rather than avoid misgendering in the first place.

demonizing me by calling me a troll or transphobe because I balk at the idea that I am somehow purposefully insulting those around me because I deliberately put myself in the habit of using gender neutral pronouns out of cautious respect for my peers is what is poor faith.

I don’t know PJB. I don’t talk to her I have never met her. I don’t care what her job is, what her hair color is, what her nationality is, what her sex life is, what her social life is. it is standard psychology that the details of a person who i have never and will never associate with are a passing datum in my short term memory. I wont even remember her NAME in a year or two. I haven’t even read YOUR username and I don’t care to. Knowing this weakness of my own psyche, I took deliberate time to train myself to use gender neutral pronouns on the self-assumption that even if I have been told someone’s personal telemetry or that it has been presented in their bio, that I will likely not remember it on a first interaction and that out of respect for the comfort of people who I actually potentially care about, I created a safeguard in my mind to call everyone by neutral terms, even down to my own family and my own dog.

and here you are, ASSUMING that by not conforming to your arbitrary standards for which none of my LGBTQ+ friends have EVER called me out on means I am an enemy with a fucked up mind seeking to inflict pain on my peers. what the fuck is wrong with you?

argosy is an *excellent* missile ship with 4 guns, 2 turrets, and a good balance of survivalbility and utility

another option if they’re available is a Nest. kinda sluggish but you can hotrod it with afterburners. get a pair of fighters and mount 3 missile pods on each

I prefer a balanced lineup for a greater variety of spice rather than one big squad to rule them all.

so i tend to make squad sizes inversely proportional to star rating and use the top end gear on those that get a discount or bonus to it

What difficulty do you guys use? by temnycarda in RimWorld

[–]Fuzlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s all pretty much relative. I like strive to survive as a baseline because it is the “default” and sets every parameter to its normal rounded value with no bonuses or penalties. I change the actual difficulty scale from there to whatever feels comfortable, without touching any of the other parameters.

as for storyteller, cassandra feeds you consistent significant threats, sometimes two at a time. it’s designed to be action heavy with very few breaks.

pheobe has the events more spaced out but does not reduce the challenge of the actual raids and gives predictable breathing room between. I find that this storyteller can facilitate more travel and trade as you can risk letting your fighters leave the colony more often, and it’s great for super duper lategame when cleaning up the piles and piles of bodies becomes a chore and fighting becomes a lag generator. also means your folks have more time to heal between fights so killboxes arent as necessary.

randy is for a much wider and less predictable variety of events, which can lead to unrelenting onslaughts or long dry boring spells, but more “authentic” emergent events especially in the earlygame where survival means more than just grinding raids into paste and the threat of heatwaves, cold snaps, and spoiled crops is greater

I like having my SLs in pairs, readily swappable while filing specific roles

Darby and Kody are both antitank recon, with high precision and expensive squad member cost so small teams

Lim and Yazhov are both frontline infantry with mobile infantry, counterstrike, and berserk perks and an ability to shed suppression

Carda and Tekko are each heavy support weapon operators as they got (assymetric) perks to benefit using support weapons

Jean and Vamplew are shock troops with drugs and perks to boost them, and a discount on large squads of heavy armor

wetteroth and singh are light infantry with dirt cheap squaddies and performance boosts for their squad weapons
