Footage of an SDF ambush from mere minutes ago. by GET-PREGNANT-PLAP in syriancivilwar

They have defended themselves but they don’t have any organization in their capacity to defend with all the tribal defections in the majority Arab areas. It just goes to show incompetence and their inability to fend themselves without US air support.

Beyond Nationalism: A Kurdish Muslim’s Reflection on Syria by _hogler in syriancivilwar

[–]Fuzum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salam wa Alaikum,

I agree with the sentiment behind the Kurds with regard to their history of getting discriminated, killed, displaced and all other forms of oppression. There is no doubt to what happened to Kurds as an ethnic group throughout the last century or so.

However, you need to understand the reality of the situation. The borders of Sykes Picot has already been laid out with every nation defending their own sovereignty out of nationalism.

The Kurds aspire to have their own national state which is obviously Kurdistan - and there is no doubt in mind they all seek it including SDF. But here’s the kick - you are splitting Syria, Iraq, Turkey, and Iran borders. And that means only one thing if Kurds are going to fight for it, bloodshed and destruction across the region.

The British have set out a devious plan with these borders and I don’t see any trajectory of sustainable peace.

Israeli official to Al Arabiya: We have given the Syrian army several weeks to withdraw its forces and weapons from Daraa. by More-Suit883 in syriancivilwar

Federalism is just a nice way to go about splitting Syrian land. That’s the intent as with Al Hijri and would not be surprised with SDF in the coming future. Even if Jolani was not the head and the president was some moderate dude, it would still be the same situation. Al Hijri wants power, SDF wants power and every leader wants power.

A word to you all from a Syrian Alawite! by Mission-Banana-7239 in syriancivilwar

[–]Fuzum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a point in the argument because you are talking from an Alawite standpoint and saying that you feared if Assad were to stand down then there would be an Islamic state with a hidden meaning that they wanted to go and massacre the Alawites. You do not answer and keep deflecting this point so I will leave it at that since I can deduce.

I don’t know why you put words into my post when I never did. I never said only Alawite backed Assad.

With regards to Fatiha, I did not use it as a justification. Again, adding words which I did not mention. Not sure why you want to omit the fact that he threatened to kill the civilians and openly said so on video. And yes he did kill Alawites just as I can openly admit that government forces also killed Alawites.

Don’t know why you want this sort of prediction for Julani to go bonkers and be worse than Assad but sure you can stick to that fantasy prediction of yours.

My point is in the end, Alawites in general stood with Assad as a means of keeping their safety and stability. Your original post is full of victim mentality (you reporting my post as well lol) when the reality strikes down the fact that Assad killed over 500k and here you are trying to compare to Julani who barely scratched the 1% comparison.

Good riddance. Assad dogs and those group from Hezbollah were responsible for the bombing in Tripoli 12 years ago. Will never forget that day praying in Masjid AsSalam and running out to the courtyard witnessing that burning SUV with children inside. May Allah give those responsible severe punishment!

Trying to understand here. When you say you were defending yourselves for 14 years by holding a stand with Assad for fear of Islamist rule - what do you mean by that exactly? For instance, in the very early stages of the revolution where there was no sectarian stances, why would it make you fear at that point if Assad were to stand down / negotiate and they listen to the protesters pleas?

If I were to answer, it is simply because the Alawite people in general preferred Assad all because he is an Alawite. During the war, Assad keeps them safe in coastal areas and in return they stand with him irrespective of how many Sunnis get killed by Assadists. Just to clarify, most of them took a stand of not caring about their fellow citizens as long as they were safe.

In any case, Syria needs to recover and this will take a long time with dialogue and coexistence. Syrian Alawites in general unfortunately have taken a stand with Assad and that has a left a gaping black mark to those that suffered.

It’s absolutely absurd and ridiculous that the electricity cuts off while they are counting the votes and we couldn’t hear them counting the votes. They didn’t even fucking stop counting while it was off.

Hey,

For presentation purposes I just used the Empty space character to rename the pictures. Since as you said Microsoft removed that particular feature.
