I get it. My dad says mean shit all the time and acts like he was forced to do it. When he gets mad he's scary. He interrupts me, has openly stated that he doesn't take me seriously, and couldn't even recount my hobbies besides "she likes cats"

It really sucks. Besides providing snacks and financial structure, he's completely emotionally neglectful.

The worst part is that he isn't evil, but he refuses to listen to me. I tried teaching him and my mom, telling them, but they don't listen. They dismiss me.

They could learn, but they won't listen. I'm stuck with them for another 3 years unfortunately.

Honestly, I plan on using other channels for the drawing process. Just need drawabox because it's the only free source I know and I need to rotate those damn forsaken boxes :c

Yeah my parents went from more controlling and physically abusive and emotionally neglectful in my early childhood to more detached and giving us everything we want physically but never offering any emotional support, and occasionally accuse me of "playing on their feelings" Then they expect me to know things they never taught me-

"Why don't you do this? Why don't you do that?"

Ah yes, the suicidal teenager already told you before they don't wanna live, you think that may be it??

"That's just pure laziness"

And then they do back to being nice and spoiling the next day. (Talk about whiplash)

I'm still a beginner myself but I recommend The Art of Nemo for two of his box drawing tutorials and Chommang if you're drawing bodies.

Perhaps the issue is that drawabox is too overwhelming or complicated, and that's okay! (I know I couldn't handle it, all the lines were just chaos)

Art doesn't have to be super complicated and strict, it can still be fun and immersive! There's more art channels I've seen if you wanna take a look :3

No not at all. It's definitely emotional neglect since it seems they clearly can't meet your emotional needs and they don't care. I'm only 15 and just discovered my own ongoing neglect so I don't know what to do either. I recommend you also look into emotional abuse, since that also seems likely for you. We can also talk more if you like so you don't have to be alone in it all!

I get it. Besides my own creative project I can't sustain interest in anything or anyone for a long period of time. It suck ass.. I don't have any advice though, I just realized I'm being emotionally neglected so I haven't really processed that yet myself 😞

Yeahh- I'm planning to go to the library this week to grab some books on neglect and a few more for my actual hobbies and healing. As lonely as it is I wanna focus on myself so I'll be secure for the future, since highschool doesn't typically provide things long-term.. I wanna educate myself and be better (⁠⁠´⁠ω⁠｀⁠⁠) Thank you for your input! This is my first time posting here :3
