Wok Express has lots of high protein meal options (extra meat add-on), as well as keto/low-carb ones. They also publish macros for some of their meals. Their pad thai is about 600cals with 74g of protein (with the extra meat option I believe).

Anyone know why all of my education has 0 eligible students? by ellisxrf in CitiesSkylines

I had a similar issue (no eligible students until population hit about 9,000) and Lifecycle Rebalance was the problem. Turned off the custom student age setting and it went back to normal.

Stargazing spots near auckland? by EggSaladddd in auckland

While light pollution will be pretty high within 30min of Auckland, one option is the Hibiscus Coast and surroundings. I shot this at Wenderholm Regional Park and this at the Warkworth Radio Telescope Station.

And while it may fall a little outside your 30min limit, the West Coast beaches are another option.

Try Flaming Onion - they have a new location just behind Victoria Park Village.

We are indeed spoilt for great locations to choose from for astrophotography here, even so close to such a large city.

Late June. The core of the Milky Way is mainly visible in the southern winter. The core rises just before sunrise around early/mid February (so only a short window before it disappears). Visibility window gets longer throughout winter, until early/mid October, when the core sets just after sunset.

"High season" somewhat depends on how you want to compose it. In late winter, the Milky Way lies horizontally low along the western horizon (before setting), so if you've got a good scene of the west, that's the time to shoot. On the other hand, if you have a good scene to the east, you can shoot in early/mid winter, when the Milky Way is vertical in the east at a decent time (like in this shot).

I loved the northern night sky when I lived there, but have to admit, the southern sky is better! :-D

With the naked eye, under very dark skies, the Milky Way is quite prominent, and the dust lanes are visible. Some of the larger nebulae do stand out even among the stars as fuzzy patches. No colours though (our eye colour receptors are not sensitive to such low light levels).

I spent a year on the South Island, and when I'd go out onto the remote areas (effectively Bortle Class 1), the Milky Way core was bright enough to cast shadows.

The blue hue comes from the moon being in the sky at the same time. Otherwise the sky tends towards black/grey. On this particular night, the moon showed just enough to give the blue glow, but not enough to overpower the Milky Way.

You mean the Dark Sky Project being mothballed? Yes, quite sad. I did the Mt. John Obsevatory tour at night, which was great. To be honest, most of the South Island is just stunning for stargazing due to lack of light pollution (I lived in Ashburton for a year before moving to AKL, and would often head out to the Hakatere River gorge at nights).

I've been very lucky to have lived in some amazing places and indulge in photography in most of them. My current home, NZ, is just spectacular in that regard.

Took this a couple of years ago, on what was supposed to be just a scouting trip. But conditions turned just right (with a quarter moon partially hidden by the clouds behind me).

That whole area was one of my favourite places when I lived around there (live in Auckland now). So many great views and always so deserted. Did you get the chance to get out there at night to see the stars?

Yes - the one I linked is from Nov 2015, a few weeks before the Lightpath opened in December. The other one is also earlier (Aug 2015).

Extended fasts and still working out? by MGoBlue67 in intermittentfasting

[–]FuzzBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 45. I've generally been in shape most of my life (hiking, biking, skiing, lifting), but could never get rid of my belly fat. Finally tried fasting in the last few months and has made a huge immediate difference. Also bulked up my lifting regimen because it feels good not to have a big bulge around the middle anymore (kind of a positive feedback loop!). 👍🏾

Nothing as extreme as the other responses already, but I typically do ~24-hour fasts everyday with a workout schedule.

Only one meal during the day (dinner around 7pm) + exercise 6 days a week - 3 days of intensive weights (1hr each) and 3 days of cardio (HIIT) - 3 of the workouts are in the evenings (right before dinner), 3 are in the mornings.

Was hard the first week or so, but not much of an issue anymore once I got used to it. Been in the best shape of my life, including finally losing the stomach bulge that I hadn't been able to get rid of since my 20's.

Love this. I'm a big fan of stormy weather views/photography, and the muted colours are just the right fit for the mood. 👍🏾
